What is this part called? "I posted photos"

chps77 -> What is this part called? "I posted photos" (4/24/2007 2:28:12 PM)

I have my car at the shop right now and there in search for this part "take a look at the photos below"
not sure what this part is called nor what the part number is?

whats happening is there is weird spots in the turning of the wheels they say its caused by the knuckle binding.
if there is anyone out there that could give the exact name of this part that would be great... we have been searching for this part now for 6 days with no success at all. I'm getting very unhappy.

its a 1978 ford mustang || coupe.

I'm in London Ontario Canada
also if there is anyway to fix this part at all.
there used to be a 6 cylinder in the car and was changed to a 302 5 speed, I'm not sure if this was the reason for the binding.
the steering is manual steering.
thanks for everyones help on this.
Rick.

look at that, a question and helpful reply in hours.... in the II section..... im impressed LOL [:D]

btw, i have power steering so i dont know if the column come down on a different angle into the manual steering unit or not (i wouldnt think it would be different) but with my hedman headers (302) nothing was bound up. it looked to me in the pic that you are using exhaust manifolds. if you are, what are the part numbers on them? the II's have their own manifolds that need to be used, part number starting with a D5. if when they did the swap they used incorrect manifolds this may be your problem (and the perfect excuse to get some headers [;)]

my77stang -> RE: Part # is...... (4/24/2007 4:44:52 PM)

oh sorry, i thought when you said it was binding up that was because it was rubbing on something due to the V8 conversion

gwb16 -> RE: What is this part called? "I posted photos" (4/24/2007 7:49:53 PM)

Try this:

D8ZF-3B676-A
D = Decade 70's
8 = Equals year "8"
Z = Mustang
F = General Parts division
A = Revision - could be B or C or?

Here's a great reference source!!!!!

Soaring -> RE: What is this part called? "I posted photos" (4/24/2007 8:58:14 PM)

Hey my77stang.  Could that be called the rag joint as it is on the 67-73 Mustangs?  I can't make it out in the picture very well except to see that maybe there is a joint there.
Hey all you II's. I just thought I would step up to the attic and see how things are going.  It's not nearly as lonely as it used to be.

YAY for II's!!!!!

and yeah soaring it's probably called that, i had no idea of the technical name of that part. i know on my car it looks like its made from a used tire or something, like a layered rubber of sorts.
