Has anyone washed their car with baby shampoo? It's mild and contains no strong chemicals so wouldn't this be an ideal car wash soap too?

LOL, that has never occured to me. I'm sure someone's tried it on here.

I wonder though, because it's designed for skin, would it have some oil-removing properties (for skin) which might make it hard on the finish of a car?

Or perhaps it would be too mild? Car wash soap has got to be a little bit agressive to do a decent job taking off dirt, doesn't it?

Yah I got the idea from a neighbor. He has expensive cars: Ferrari, Porsche carrera, audi TT.. and he told me he only use baby shampoo to wash his cars.. Right now I use Meg's gold class car wash.

If your neighbor jumps off a bridge, are you going to do it?

Last time I heard this was in grade school.. you a grade school teacher or in grade school?

He made sense about the baby shampoo.. the soap is mild, it suds, and no harmful chemicals.. I looked at his cars and they are flawless...I post here to get another opinion.. and your post is the most dumbest thing I've heard in this forum since I've joined...

Using baby shampoo is the dumbest, try again. Next, you'll say is that cooking oil is good to put on my tires because it will protect them better.

I've done this before I read in my mom's manual after she got her escape that it should be washed with something this is ph balanced or something like that, and baby shampoos are, it seemed to work well, but it is easier to clean with the car soap.

I don't know about using baby soap to wash a car... but my mom used baby oil to wax her faded 89 camaro... made it look brand new...

I don't think baby shampoo would work to tell you the truth... maybe for a quick wash, when you don't have time to wax after it. But for serious washing I would stick to regular car soap.

Well, I DO baby my car, but baby shampoo and oil?
Wouldn't the baby oil attract every dust mote in the world?
I think I'll stick to using the baby oil on my wife.

ya i agree with mygt500.. car wash is made just for cleaning and maintaning your car. as baby shampoo is for small children.
and i would hope big companies know what there doing know what there doing when they make this stuff.

hahaha, ive heard of some DIY household cleaning but jeeeeeeeeze!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "hmmm, i think im going to rub a couple sticks of butter on my car for more of a wet look" thats basically what you guys are saying. better yet! lets use conola oil instead of the usual 10w-30... hmmmm yeah.... that will work. theres auto soaps and waxes... etc for a reason. this time, how about we all think inside the box. just this time. hahaha!

after getting his car painted ,my neighbor only washed his car in johnsons baby shampoo & only used turtle wax on it for years. don't think it harmed the paint, but it faded like most paint jobs after several years. i would use car wash soap made for washing cars since this is what it is made to do. but to each his own.

Do it if you want to strip off the wax.

I don't know guys, I think it's worth it for someone to try it just to say "clean like a baby's bottom" after they're done.

Nobody is saying that but you. Yah your examples really prove a very intelligent point....especially the butter.. besides the harmful oil, the sticky substance, and ants be crawling on your car, it does make the car have that "wet look"..!!

Way to go to make a comparison man...

how about this:

http://www.phantomplate.com/.. people paid money for it.. well it turns out, hairspray can do the same ****.. so if someone slaps a sticker of "Car wash soap" on a baby shampoo, with your concept, i guess it's okay to use?

why are you trying to avoid car soap? are you afraid its going to harm the paint? I cant imagine its a price thing considering the millionare "nextdoor"is usingit.

Try it. If it doesn't work, go back to what you were doing. Some of the best discoveries have been made by accident.

I've done it before ( grabbed wrong bottle from under the sink ) really got the car squeeky clean. Probably stripped all the wax off. My car wash of choice is Mequiars.
