Default Another stripe question.....

OK, I decided to remove the whiteside stripes and add some red stripes across the top. I'm doing it myself (figured if I can install a S/C I can do stripes ..right?)
Hood stripeswent on easy, very easy to be exact! Thenover the winshield was next not bad!(Vert youknow)Now in front of the rear deck lid again not to hard (that piece of plastic was sightly difficult but took 2 credit cards and all was well) NOW the rear deck lid WHAT the heck! I waisted two sections of stripes trying to get this one on! And I'm not even to the bumpers yet!!! Anyone got any tips I can't seem to figure the rear deck lid out! The curve of the deck as it goes from horizonal to vertical is a ratius and it either makes the stripe BAD crooked or big bubbles (hell its worse then a darn bubble!) Anyone that can make this easier? Nope sorry not ready to take it to the shop just yet!!

What it looked like day 1:

What it looked like this winter: (yes that's a 540 hp Saleen S/C and a 67 GTA sitting under a blanket of snow! Bad timing for needing the garage for other projects)

What it looked like yesterday:

Looks good! Torch red looks good on a black pony. So, did you install the PP fogs on the same day?

Looks great.
So what was the trick to installing them?
I have a local shop that didnt want to touch the bumpers due to the compound curves.
Where did you get your stripe kit from? And how much?
How were the bumper installs?
Thanks.
I'm looking to do some silver shelby GT stripes on my black 06 'vert.

HEAT GUN! And takeyour time! Put a cloth over the squeegie to keep from scratching car OR the stripes. On the flat surface use soapy water, on the bumpers install dry and use a heat gun on low setting.(a hair dryer could workif you could make a stand for it as I needed two hands on the stripe and/or squeegie) I may redo the left rear bumper stripe as it's kind of curved inward. Or I may just learn from it lol! I'm a little uneasy about how they'll hold up to our weather and washing/waying. I'm guessing touchless style high pressure drive though car washesare off limits for now!

To prep take your washer nozzles off (about 2 mins) remove center rear brake (done from the inside unplug and depress some detenttabs and comes offtowards the outside (5 mins tops) the remove the chrome emblem around the keyhole for trunk. (it just pulls off <1 min) ( I was amazed how much dirt was under here, used rubbing alc. to 'reenergize' the glue and put back on)

This was the kit I got. Don't remember much in the way of instructions...LOL

Becareful with your mesurements as On a vert there is plenty of material BUT on the fast backs I'm guessing there isn't much extra and the compound curves the lenghts might be more then just an actual single measurement. The job is NOT perfect but it looks very good (IMHO) from about <5 foot away (I think because I know where the seems are and a perfectionist!!)

Hope this helps anyone that wants to try this themselves.....

oh and yes I installed the Pony grill about 1/2 hour after I finished the stripes. ( I had to take it for a spin!) Grill was 10 mins and about a half hour to wire them up. ( I cheated and pulled power from the marker lights, so yes they will always be on. I drive with my GT lights always on so at this poing I figured what the heck.

Thanks for the tips and link for the kit
For that little money it's worth giving it a shot!
I got a price from a buddy's body shop today of $400-$600 for painted silver stripes (2) 9" stripes with 1" space like the Shelby GT's..
(only not vinyl)..
I think I'll just do the vinyl for now to make sure I like silver on the black 'vert.
Once I've had it for a while I'll probably have them paint the stripes on.

What do you guys think?
