Heater Problem

Anybody else haveing this problem? With the heat turned all the way down the vents are pouring out hot air.(Not in the recirculation mode). The outside air is only about 55 degrees so,I shouldn't have to turn the A/C on to cool off the interior. I know I could roll the windows down,but I shouldn't HAVE TO. Anybody else notice this? I have an'07 Pony package with manual trans,. Thanks.

I presume you're talking about the same level of heat as if you actually have the knob turned all the way up to maximum temp.
With the knob turned all the way cold and the mode selector knob set to OFF, you'll feel some heat flowing through the vents.
What I do is set the mode to heat, then turn the knob all the way cold and that seems to keep any residual heat from flowing out of the vents.

I know OFF should mean no flowing hot or cold air at all but I think the flapper door sets into a neutral position or something which allows some of the heat from the heater core to get through anyway.
Or if you're doing the same thing as me and are still getting a lot of heat out of your vents, then you have a problem somewhere. Might require a visit to the dealer to diagnose and repair.

I haven't looked it up yet because I don't have any problems with my 07 pony, but by the feel of the temp control knob, I'd say it's a variable resistor that controls a motorized flapper door that selects between the heater core and A/C core just like on older cars that are controlled by a cable or other mechanical linkagefrom the knob.

Another guess is there may be a fuse for that? Have you checked your owners manual?

Thanks Wolfey, what I was trying to do was have cool outside air come through the vent by turning the position knob to vent and the temp knob all the way to cold (Fully counter-clockwise).Fan switch to 1 or 2. Guess I could have made myself clearer.

So you feel a lot of heat in that mode or a little bit or what?
Should be equal to outside temp after say 10 minutes or so depending on how warm your ducting is before hand.
You should feel no artificial heat whatsoever IMO. I don't when I use the same setting.
