Default Humble Pie at the track, but great night!

Went to Byron this morning and found out how much fun it can be to run a supercharged car on street tires, this is from memory so may be off a tick, too tired to walk back out and get the time slips.

First pass a 13.0@110.89 with an 86.89 1/8 mile, all of first and a good portion of 2nd gear were spent trying to gain traction. 2.2 60ft
Second pass 13.1@110.79 with an 86.74 1/8 mile, bog, smoke, granny shift 2nd 2.1 60 ft
Third pass 13.2@110.78 with an 86.98 1/8 mile, get traction, spin on top of first, granny shift 2nd 2.2 60ft
Fourth pass 12.96@110.98 with an 86.99 1/8 mile, 2.1 60 ftshort shift each gear at 6000rpm granny shifting, best pass of the day.

The car was in third until right before the traps I'd say I was shifting into 4th about 40ft from the traps, so the car needs a gear, big time. So, I spent the day eating humble pie, I honestly thought I'd drive her into the 12.70's but the car just wasn't going to launch well on 235 stock 18" rubber, no way no how.

So, I went to Busse woods and hung out there, then hung out at Beef Villa and went cruzing after that. To end the night I partial raced several timesan LS2 GTO with headers, cold air, tune and full SLP exhaust, drag radialsand 300lbs shaved off of the cars weight. (I think I have his mods right, either way, that damn car moved!!)

Several rolls from 40 on I pulled on him but I wouldn't call it fair, roll racing rarely is, if he got the jump we stayed pretty even but I would start pulling the faster we went. His best time at the track ws a 12.6@110 so my car should easily be there with a set of tires. We just couldn't find a spot to go at it from a stop, maybe some other time, he was very cool about my Stang hanging with him, he's used to beating Mustang's so I gave him a new respect for the S197.

Coming soon, new wheels, 295 size ET DR's, 4.10 gears and skinnies up front so I can launch this sucker right.

You really need some suspension work and some sticky tires. I don't see why you couldn't be in the 11's soon if you spend a couple bucks on suspension.

Agreed, with suspension work and very sticky tires it would help but this thing needs gears in a major way.

so its at least a consideration for you? it seems that so many guys put a TON of power into the car, and then wonder why they slow down...

Nothing wrong with that bro, a least you have an idea of what she'll do on the streets. You'll love the slicks though. they will easilly ad 3 or 4 tens.

Of course it is, but going with the stock tires gave me an idea of what gear I need to go with. I may change out the LCA's as well, not sure yet but a 4.10 gear with 17x10 rims and the ET's will get the car in line with what I hope to run on a consistent basis.

Agreed, hell if I could get the car to run at the track like it does on the street I would be happy!
