Quick shot of Krylon glossy black on the pony always looks good.

wow. i really like that. really sleek look. i'm going to have to do that asap. i assume you did this glacial, did you sand down the pony? roughly how many coats did you put on? and did you clear coat it or just left it a flat black?

I used the Krylon Fusion on my black pony.  It sticks great, and looks awesome!

black06stang, did you take off the grill and paint it or did you just use a whole bunch of tape so as not to get paint on the body?

edit: i'm going to go ahead and do this tommorow. i'm going to pick up a light grit sand paper and sand down the pony, use a whole bunch of tape and paper so as not to get spray paint anywhere it's not supposed to go, and go on with my bad self with the krylon fusion black.

I just removed the radiator cover, and then carefully used a screw driver to pop out all of the grille tabs.

i just did this little project today, didn't take the grill off the car. i used a whole lot of painter's tape, news paper, and cut up paper bags. lol. this finished project looks sweet. i'll try to take pics asap.

for anyone that's going to do this. use krylon fusion - black. no prep work, you don't have to sand down the mustang emblem.

for all those that have done this, have you experienced any paint chipping from road debris?

It looks great!  Did you put a clear coat on it?

na, no clear coat. i didn't want it to be to shiny. i wanted it to have a simple matte look. did you clearcoat yours, black06stang?

to yomofoitzjay -

i swept left and right a few times maybe 4 and i considered that a coat. did it again roughly half a minute later. let a few minutes pass and swept up and down 4 times.. done! then i just waited for it to dry.

paint was about $5 at advanced auto.

I used a low-gloss clear coat just for protection.  This way it is a flat look like the grille.  Yomofoitzjay, the most important part to painting is the first coat.  Make sure that your first coat is very thin, to make sure is adheres well.

I think this is a neat idea. It gives the car a different look than the other mustangs.
However, Dont you lose the black mustang with a black grill as background.
I would think that you would not be able to see the mustang unless you where real close.
