I hate to say this, but it does bother me. I find myself picking apart many posts in my brain. I too have bad posts where I may have overlooked a word or two. I always proof read my posts and always miss a word or two. I do notice, with these days of spell checker, my mind is not excercised like it was when I was younger. We are dumbing ourselves down unfortunately.

For me its the long, long posts without paragraphps. How the heck do you read a twenty sentence story with no breaks? And if they leave out punctuation... I just move on. To much hassle.

Besides, who has the time to write, none the less, respond to this type of question anyway. I mean really have you nothing better to do?

Before you get your knickers in a bunch, that last bit was a joke.

Yeah, this isn't English class and you are not going to educate proper grammar on this site.  I totally agree with you, but again, this is not the place to educate about proper grammar.  Some of the worst cases actually post some of the best information. You just have to sift through all the bad grammar to understand what they are saying.

As Metallica would say; sad but true.

well the reason i post such a thing is because, as a 4th year college student, i realize that a good 85% of the population is completely ignorant and does nothing for society.  someone wants pictures, so hopefully the chart below (which explains the direct correlation of vehicular ownership to actual intelligence) will suffice.  no, the dash doesn't belong there after the word non, but i'm too lazy to change it now.

I hope that is sarcasm. There are plenty of people who are intelligent, but were not lucky enough to have parents that could send them to college. They built your home, the car you drive, the road you drive on....etc. I wouldn't say they don't contribute.

mayh3m,

I wasn't gonna say anything because I'm generally quiet and shy, but I happen to own classic mustangs and I'm a published novelist... In other words, I write a lot and get paid for it, so it's gotta be either correct or despite imperfection, people like it anyway. We are not paid to be here in these forums either posting or reading. Therefore, you get what you pay for. If you're unhappy with the quality of how information is delivered, remember, you're not forced to be here.

I think I speak for most of us when I say that we come here because we have similar interests and wish to express them. Through that expression, we might use improper grammar or spelling, but that expression is still the root of why we are here, not the mechanics of how we present it to others. In truth, communication happens when both sides acknowledge that something has been said. Those who use incorrect grammar and spelling communicate less. Does that mean their opinions are less valid? No. Just less heard. And in that unintended silence does lie a contribution to society. Perhaps with time you'll learn to see it.

Amen,
Besides, hopefully, you are intelligent enough to figure out the intent of the messages even if there are some grammatical errors.  If it really bothers you perhaps you suffer from OCD.  Try taking some Xanax and get over it.

Toolwrench,

Points well made in an articulate manner. I give you an A+ for grammar and punctuation as well!! Grammar is something most people should improve, me particular, but the content is more important in my eyes on these forums.
