Very nice write up.  I am just waiting on funds to get forged but I am still not sure if I want to buy an already built short block, long block or rebuild my own with forged internals.  Doing it myself would be a lot cheaper of course.  One question though...how much Horsepower can a stock short block hold?  With forged internals of course.

Do you have anything about degreeing the motor with new cams. I just got everything bolted down but I want to make sure everything is going to be safe. Thanks

You have vt cams so you really dont have to degree them. Comp cams is a must to degree because they put an advance in there cams, hence all the treads about comp cams and PTV.

got another question. I had to move the passenger side cam gear a good amount before i got everything lined up on the timing marks. The chain seems kinda weird and tense on one side and not tense against the guide. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered this and if its just something that will go away when the tensioners get some oil in them or if i screwed up somewhere?

Edit: when i tryed to turn the crank pulley after i had the chains all lined up on the marks, the one side jumped a couple of teeth.

You'll just have to start over. Make sure all the guides and tentoniers are on before you turn the crank. and turn it slowly.

It can handle whatever you throw at it.

Rods and pistons are rated for certain amounts of horesepower. The manufacturer has these specs listed.

How bad is it to install new cams with the engine in the car? Isn't there a tool to hold the cam gear in place so you dont move the chain off the crank. And how do you degree cams?

Hey oxfordgt, nice picture outline of how to install the Motor, Trans, etc.  I happen to live 1 1/2 hours from Clarksville.  Ever do work for fellow stangers for a price?  :)
