What is the best kind of cloth to dry our Mustangs with after washing ? For years now I have been driving pickups and SUV's and have not worried to much about it, just used a clean bath towel with no noticeable scratching etc.
But now with the Mustang I want to be real careful, so what is the best way to dry it off ???
A GOOD SOFT CHAMOIS(PRONOUNCED SHAMMY) THERE IS A COMPANY THAT MAKES THEM CALLED WATER SPRITE AND THAT IS ALL THAT I HAVE EVER USED SINCE I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALERSHIP. IT IS THE SAME THAT THEIR DETAIL GUYS USE AND IT SHOWS GREAT SHOWCAR LIKE RESULTS!! BUT ANY CHAMOIS WILL DO, AS LONG AS IT FEELS SOFT TO YOUR HAND, IM SURE YOUR CAR WILL ENJOY IT TOO!!! HAVE FUN!

I use a Toro Super Blower! I have 4 coats of Zaino and the water just blows right off.
I have been washing cars for forty years and have always used a chamois, but this idea sounds great! A blower would at least get off most of the water before using the chamois. I'm trying the blower idea at my next wash. Why didn't I ever think of that? Just dumb, I guess. Thanks, TacoBill!

My paint is full of spider webs right from day of delivery, I use a Chamois anyway, as to not make more webs?? Tried web remover did not work.........Dealer uses a Chamois but still makes webs!

I've used Chamois for over 20 years and I have found that it does dry your car quick, but it can pick up dirt and hold it in the skin. Thus creating unwanted marks and spider webs. Since I bought the new Mustang, I have yet to wash it.....I never drive in the rain, so it doesn't get that dirty. I do use Meguiars Detailer on it very often with a Microfiber towel.....still looks as good as the day I bought it back in Dec. I have let it rain on the car while parked in the drive way then I wiped it down with a Microfiber towel. Microfiber doesn't dry it as well as a Chamois would BUT, I would rather be patient and keep wringing the towel out than risk getting spider webs or worse on my cars finish. Just remember, you can wash a Microfiber towel.
I think TacoBill's solution to use a Blower on it is a very good idea!
I have had my car for two years now, I have always used micro fiber's for drying. I have dedicated micro fibers just for drying the car, they are washed, dried, and stored seperately from my other towels to prevent unwanted stuff being transfered onto the towels and then into my paint. No spider webs or swirl marks in my black paint yet , of course I keep my car well waxed too, that helps

Detail spray on the car while it's wet.. then wipe with a micro-fiber towel. Then just a little more detail spray..and a fresh micro-fiber towel and wipe to a spotless shine..

Interesting. I use the absorber. I bought it at Waly-mart and it is softer than the shammy and you can wash it in the washing machine too. Works real nice. I'm going to see if I can find a link.
I use a California Water Blade most of the time. They say it won't scratch (we will see eventually I suppose) and microfiber towels to pick up the little leftovers in corners, etc.

I too use the absorber. It sucks up the water. I tried the blower, but it makes to much noise and there's a good chance of blowing dirty water back up on the car.

whipple HO SC,FRPP springs, Pypes mid mufflers, Che adj. LCA, hurst, 4.10's, 1 piece DS, spec stg 2 clutch. Accel coils 12.52@117.6mph so far with a 2.01 60 ft time(pre shaft, coils, clutch).

Yeah, the blower does make alot of noise... but so does my exhaust.
I start from the roof and go down. Takes less than 5 minutes to get the majoity of water off the car, then I use a chamois on any leftover water that's still on the car (which is very minimal).
How would you get the dirty water from the ground back up onto the car? I can see it happening if you aim a 200+ mph blast of air directed at a puddle on the ground, but who's dumb enough to do that?
Waffle weave is good. The trick with any drying is that the car needs to be CLEAN. Rinse, soap with a good soap like meg's gold class and a good mitt, rinse again and then dry. I use a absorber and it doesn't scratch at all. It also picks up any small amounts of residual dirt nicely. Big thing is to keep your stuff clean. Ideally you at least rinse out your mitt and chamois after every use. This will keep any problems to a minimum. Oh I also use Eagle one wax as u dry while I'm drying it. Leaves some protection behind and I've found it dries better.
