ORIGINAL: Frostbitten to an experienced theif a mustang is a piece of cake to steal, even an 03 or newer. My sisters manager just had her 06 honda minivan stolen out of her driveway last week....
Interesting, I'm no thief or anything, but I sure would like to know how they by-pass the vehicle's computer without the chipped key.
honda had an awesome idea that if you were to loose your keys that there would be an "alternative" way to start the car and get it to a dealership to get a new key its a combination of e-brake pulls and stuff (not real sure) but i read about a few instances where its happened and the insurance company totally screwed to people who lost their car because they said that since it had anti theft and they had both the keys then you stole it yourself
anyway i leave my top down everywhere unless its about to rain i have a white top on my car and its gay it also doesnt hurt that its a $3000 car that has a $25 head unit from walmart

Back to the topic, I bought a cockpit cover from Moss for about $39 just to keep out garage dust, bird crap, pollen dust. It takes two minutes maybe to put on or take off. Works good, but you need to put cloth around the door handle straps or they will scratch the paint in strong wind. Oh yeah, going topless is better.
I followed your lead, asked Moss to send me one of the "top down" models. I like the construction and material, but it's a bit of a puzzle to me: how in the world are those tabs in the back supposed to hook to anything? Did they leave out some straps or something, or am I just a little thicker than usual? ==================
Well, Mr MyGrabberOrangeGT, I'm still stuck. Those tabs on the rear of the cover came flat, and they will bend, but what do they hook to?
Open the trunk and the tabs will fit in the space forward of the seal. You just bend them into a "U" and the three inner tabs will actually grab under the seal then. Park into the wind if possible. This just makes it easier to install. If I know it will be very windy I just put the top up rather than take the chance of it ripping loose and beating the GT CS I park next to everyday. I use it pretty much daily though. It definitely keeps the interior cooler than having the top up. I should take some pics I guess.

Thank you.
I was hoping for a magical method that didn't involve opening the trunk.
I agree, it is a nice piece of work with good results in the hot sun, for a reasonable price.

Top up when parked for long periods of time, also when dusty & windy, raining (that's theoretical actually as my vert doesn't yet know what rain is)
Top down whenever driving (it's the law...isn't it?), when parked in my direct line of sight, when parked out of sight but in a high pedestrian traffic area (usually with the windows up to prevent reach ins) for short times.

my first convertible was an 84 mustang had it three weeks went to work with it to pick up my check and leave was inside 5 minutes came back out and she was gone. needless to say i left the top down. so now i have a 90 "7up" convertible and its top down if im in it only. and as for during the day with the top down forget it, she only comes out at night in perfect weather.
back to pistols in glove compartments i agree depending on where you live you need it and especially when people know you are in law enforcement/corrections. where i live everyone knows that my brother is a police officer and they hate him. the right to bare arms is a beautiful thing 'eh? thank god i live in america.
Lately since it's been 100 to 105 degrees with 800% humidity I don't park with the top down anymore. I don't even drive with it down anymore until after dark when it's only in the 90's.
If I am going to be quick like under 5 min and its close to where I will be (the only time I try to park in the front) I will leave it down but I will put up both the windows and make sure I dont have anything sitting in the open. I will also leave it down when I go home and put it in the driveway!
Other than that I always put it up, i mean it only takes what 12 sec!!!
It's always down in my garage, and on the way to work, but DOWN for play, UP for work. I get into my work mode in the parking lot as I raise the top, and play mode as I lower it. It's kind of a psychological separation for me. If I'm on a weekend trip, I leave it down all the time unless it rains. That top isn't going to give any security if you are thoughtless enough to leave valuables in view.
well so far it really depends on the area and of course line of site. We have left it down and went into a few resurants, but one of us could see it from the window, but we keep nothing in it and anything we have with us like cell phone etc... we lock in the trunk. so far one time we left it unattended with the top down for about 10 min and someone had put a tootsie roll paper in one of the holes where the top connects to the windshield... i wasnt happy and wont leave it unattended top down again
