I planned on buying an entirely new interior due to the fact that the previous owner ruined it all. Instead i heard about interior paint and i gave it a try. I wanted black/red but went with a black/blue refering to the whole ford blue thing.
I ran out of paint and its raining anyways so i wont be able to finish it anytime soon cause its supposed to dip into the 50s for a while. Does this look good so far or should i just start buying panels?
i hadn't planned on painting any of this, but when i heard that i could i figured i would try even though i've heard a lot of nightmare stories from vinyl paint. i went to auto zone and picked up this blue for just $6 and figured that if it didn't work i'd just buy the all black interior. the colors were limited, this blue or a red that looked more like a chevy orange so the pick was easy for the mustang.
04 sonic blue gt Mac Lt headers and off road h-pipe.., slp power flo cat-back, indiglo gauges, 18 dd chrome bullets, billet chrome gas door with gt logo, mach 1 delete, gt hood stripes... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2641808
just my two cents but i did almost the same thing but instead of painting everything a color i left the big parts black and just painted the little accent parts red...i tihnk it looks sweet ill try to get some pics up by i have no idea how to
I voted no because the blue looks too bright and with the current seat covers, really looks like more work is desparately needed now. Sorry, but you asked.
I voted no as the paint looks great as far as how it was applied but I think black would be better. Think of the first application as a primer and the next one as the finish coat! JMO

i completely understand everyone's opinion. i didn't really wanna go with a one colored interior so i tried this blue which is really bright in those pics, not so much in person.
went over everything 2-3 times to make sure that all of the stains and stuff that was impossible to remove was covered. thats the only reason i decided to do any of this. ill upload some before pics of how the interior looked before the paint.
the color of the car right now is green, but it wont be for long. i have to get it painted due to the body work i plan to fix (scratches, dents, etc.) that were there before the purchase. a lot of work is needed through the entire car, not just the interior. keep watchin the forums and hopefully you'll help me with a problem sooner or later, should be fun!!!
i dont have any idea, but it wouldn't come out for anything. i first used armor all which got a bit out, then i scrubbed with hot water and dish washing liquid. then i used this degreaser stuff and it didn't even touch it so i had to do something.
i think you had the right idea josh, you just painted the wrong things IMO. Heres a picture of my interior, minus the red panels on the doors (just the one that houses the power window buttons, and the door handle). I agree with the others that you should keep most everything oem black and then just paint certain accents. Good luck with w/e way you decide!!
just finished the job. here are pics of the finished product! im somewhat satisfied with it finished and how it looks. hopefully i wont have any problems out of it. haha, noticed that most people dont like it at all.
Well...I'm gonna sound like Randy from American Idol here. I'm generally not a fan of painted interiors at all. Yours, I'm almost diggin' some reason. You went CRAZY with the paint, and painted a **** ton more than you should have. But it looks like you did a quality job, and whereas you might have went overboard, you went overboard with style.
Now I'm not even going to address the fact that the outside of your car is green though...
BTW, 50resto.com has a full line of OEM Match interior spray paint.
And that interior looks like it was flooded or something. Sound right?

It did look like it was flooded, and i really hadn't planned on this at all but im suprised how well it turned out. I had seen somewhere years ago where someone had replaced the gray 1/2 of their interior with red panels and i was gonna try that but i figured that i would try the paint first. Thats why i got a $6 can at auto zone, if i was wasting it i wouldn't lose much. 50resto is about $12 - $15 i think?
Once i started i couldn't stop and now i'm done. I like it, but if you would have told me that i was painting the interior of a mustang a year ago i would have laughed at you.
The paint job is in bad condition. Scratches and little dents everywhere so i plan on painting it. People tell me not to cause it will lose its value but i gotta do something. Im thinking about black (i love black cars, have 2 already) that way the interior will match well.
Thanks a lot bleedingblue!
im replacing the carpet with a black carpet, gettin a black rear seat delete kit and black seats. possibly redoing the seats in there now if i can find someone to do it.
I am in the same boat as most everybody else on this. You did a quality paint job, but imo the blue is too much. I would have left the speaker grill, carpet insert(if that's carpet), and the door handle bezel black. The rest I would have done the same thing. Looks like a very nice prep/paint job...Two thumbs up.
my gf suggested the black handle bezel but i didn't go with that, not sure why. that is carpet, but i plan on gettin a black one (if they make them for my sn95) along with black carpet. thanks very much for the approval. now i dont feel so, so.... (insert word here) about doing this.
