Default nitto 555

I just put on some 255\50 17 Nitto 555's on the back of my mustang. Seems like I could have went a little wider, oh well. I was wondering how long you have to heat these tires up before you go to the line to launch. Racing season is comin up, and this will be the first time racin the mustang, don't wanna do a huge burnout leavin the lights.

It has been my experience that on street tires you should avoid a burnout and avoid the water box. At most doa short spin to clean the tires but thats it.

+1
Avoid water and do a small spin to clean them. I power-break into a spin and then let off the brakes to get them spinning a bit more. It's never more than 1-2 seconds and it seems to do the trick.

Ok, I just notice that on the street, it doesn't seem to take much to spin these tires. i thought maybe I had to do a burnout to get them hot to make them sticky.

I like the Nittos...definitelya major improvement over the stock BFG KDWSs but I think next time, I'll be switching out for some BFG KDW2s to see how they compare. On the street, the nittos seems to bite decently but I don't take off hard very often due to the exhaust being so loud, i don't want to draw attention of cars with lights on top.

Ya, i know what you mean. Should a person drop the tire pressure at the track. I run 35 psi on the street.

I usually run 25-28 psi at the track. 32 psi on the street. I keep the front at 35psi all the time.

Wow those seem like low psi for the street.

I run 41 psi on all four on the street. I guess I am just used to road racing pressures. At the race events, I run 48 psi cold.

This is on th stock pirellis though, they have a 51psi max pressure.

At 32 psi the tires seem too soft to me, I guess I am trying to compensate for the tall side wall until I get the dough for new tires.

I don't totally think this is a hijack question, but a little bit of one..Oh well...

How is the wet traction in the 555's???

How is the tread wear??? About how many miles are people getting on a set???

I'm assuming that with the 255/50-17s that you have them on the stock wheel????
