So then runnin mid 13's stone stock with 2.73 Auto and still gettin 28-30mpg highway and 24-26 city while driving something that doesnt look like grandma's car that only strikes fear into GT and Honda owners isnt better?

Sounds like I need to set up a race where we can video a stage 2 SRT4 vs a stone stock LS1 and a lightly modded NA stock internal one. We have both in my unit, and the SRT4 driver thinks its the fastest thing on base, yet it only runs a 9.3 in the 1/8th. I havent seen an LS1 without a bunch of heavy stuff in it run that slow yet. Just not impressed with neons. Then we can put it up against an actual 10 second street car and see what the distance between them is. I'll see if he will do it.

If you like em great, good for you. 11's while turbo'ed and sprayed isnt all that impressive, no matter what the engine when heavier cars with a stall and headers will run the same NA and about $400 more in mods. Add the same spray and it will be "where did the neon go? Is he still behind us I cant tell if that is him or the street lights"

Go ahead and beat on the stock Mustangs, I think its fun to watch. Puts me to sleep waiting that long, but its fun to see owners of those cars race and make up excuses.

Wow you guys really know how to argue. My story is that the SRT 4 may look like crap to us. But to a civic, neon, or some import owner it looks like a god prolly. I am not saying that we should start talking about imports, or anything of that sort. They are somewhat quick but not "fast". However something like my 16 second 97, is slower than molasses.

I still love my car. We all love our cars, hopefully. I wouldn't trade my car for a SRT 4 just because of what I have gone through with my car. I may never sell my car but that doesn't mean that my car is the greatest thing in the world.

Most want to just say their opinion which, like mine, has some sort of bias somewhere. Which is fine, blame the media (try it, it is fun). We all love what we have and that is what should be known. Don't bash them, state a disagreement.

(If you want to be a hater to me go ahead, I am a sadistic person. I like pain)

Well I finally got to race an SRT-4 last night in my GT. I pulled up at a light at about 2am last night coming from my girls house and a guy in an SRT-4 in the lane next to me asked if I wanted to run for $40, not knowing what he had under his hood but knowing I only have a BBK off-road X-Pipe I told him I'd race him for ****s & giggles. So he counts down from 3 an I rip him one off the line with just a chirp from my tires, he lays down 2 pretty long tattoos on the pavement and stays about 2 cars behind me for alittle over an 1/8 of a mile before we have to stop again. He looks at me stopped at the light and puts up his finger and points at the light so I nod my head and wait for the light, as soon as the light turn I launch on him again but this time he has a good launch and is right there with me at my rear bumper by the time we reach the next light about a 1/4 or so down. The guy rolls down his window at the last light and ask what I had in it so I told him an X-Pipe, but he doesn't believe me so we end up pulling over to pop hoods and end up shooting the **** for about an hour. Its fast little car that gets a hell of alot of respect from me...But I respect the car I raced even more because of the driver he was real cool...

wow this thread is old and long.....but anyways yeah i do respect the neon srt-4, i mean its a 4 banger that can mess wit a mustang gt. however, i would never get one due to the fact that its still a neon at the end of the day, and they look like bugs on the road...i cant explain it. plus idk id rather have that v8 rumble rather than that weird buzzy noise those 4 cyls make. but for what they are, they are pretty nice. cheap and fast....in the next few years, expect a lotta car makers to follow this trend....

i wish theyd turbo the mustang v6
