Dude trust me fwd is safer in any application. If the front wheels spin on a fwd car, nothing will happen the car just wont move, on a rwd car your back end is gonna come out.
Can u not spin the wheels on your car without going sideways? Sounds lke someone needs driving lessons
just because you can doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to happen all the time.
I'm not perfect on the clutch, sometimes i hit the gas too hard and spin before the clutch grabs and brings the revs down. So hittin the gas too hard by accident can make the car torque to the side.

For ANY driver a rwd car can fishtail. Your telling me i need driving lessons? Do they teach you how to spin your wheels without going sideways? Ive been driving for 6 years and have never had an accident and i have 0 tickets, id say im a pretty good driver.

Sitting at a stoplight i can drop the clutch at redline and not fishtail one bit. For some reason, the car spins until it gets up enough speed and the tires catch, isnt that weird. Maybe if you were going around a corner in the snow and punch it, i see your point. It not too hard to find out where your car will remain stable and stay there. Its not rocket science. Dont gun in around a corner in first or second.

And someone else was saying that torque steer in a fwd doesnt need to be corrected either? you have to hold your hand on the steering wheel and make minor adjustments. is it any easier between the two?

u mean the rear end sliding right? you make minor adjustments just like you do in a fwd car and spins off the line. Someone said that when a fwd car spins it goes straight. of course it does it u steer it straight. its just like rwd.
The neon is quick and could hurt my cobras feelings im sure but its still the devil-FWD. Doesnt anyone watch drag races for FWD? Yea neither do i. But i have a family memeber who attends them and says "yea that neon is ruling the roost in FWD but its suffering from the same problems all FWD cars have, its not supposed to handle that power." Everyone knows a FWD car no matter how modded is asking to break something beacuse that much HP shouldnt be pulling a car. And you could say "well thats offcial drag racing and they run there cars hard and parts are meant to break etc etc" but theres a REALLY good chance that people beat on that car if they own it, beacuse no matter how you cut it, its still a neon with a turbo, junk in a few years any way (high milage turbo cars=bad turbos). There may not be any thing now in terms of an epidemic on the SRT but give ait a while, someones gonna break something and its going to happen to everyone. The neon was (yes was) a great atempt to jump on the turbo 4 banger scene and is impressive, but people who want a car like that should just buy the WRX. As far as the Level1,2,3 for the neon powerplant i think its stupid to have the facotry do your mods for you, that should be reserved for things like saleen,roush,lingenfelter or vishnu(evo 8 modders). Youre ignorant, and no 0 about the potential of the SRT 4's. A guy over on my local forum has a STOCK MOTOR SRT-4 running 11.6's @ 126mph. Aftermarket turbos/etc, but stock internal motor/stock head/etc. Hasnt spent more than a few k on it. Keep bashin the SRT's....

~ First... Drag racing with a FWD car is easier than you give it credit for.
~ Tight suspension, traction bars, an LSD and good tires will do WONDERS for a FWD car. I don't get where the "fwd breaks things" comes from. EVERY CAR with ANY SORT of drivetrain layout is capable of breaking something.
~ I've seen TAs snap driveshafts, tear up gears and even smoke a clutch while attempting a burnout. I don't have to worry about breaking Rear gears OR driveshafts. Besides that, my parts will be cheaper over all.
~ Why do you think the SRT4 will be junk in a few years? I still see 1994 Mustang V6 automatics running around town with mods. IMO THOSE are the junky waste of metal. No performance, ugly looks. Just... the Mustang name. Yes, that's it.
~ The SRT4 still IS a great attempt at the turbo four banger scene, which is STILL relatively NEW to the entire Sport Compact scene as a whole. People who buy SRT4s want a 14 second car that can put a WRX to shame, for 5-6 THOUSAND dollars LESS. Not everyone who buys an SRT4 even likes WRXs, or want an AWD platform to begin with.
~ Why do you think it's retarded to get FACTORY BACKED modifications? After all, FACTORY BACKED modifications are BACKED by the FACTORY WARRANTY. Sounds like a pretty fuggin GREAT deal to me. Roush, Saleen, steeda, lingenfelter all cost an arm and a leg to buy brand new, and I doubt that Ford as a company will honor warranty's for cars that they DID NOT sell.

Personally i hate it with a passion, and i do know some **** about it cause a freind of mine has one. Very fast and can beat my cobra ten times over sure and your civic 20 times over. As ive said before FWD isnt meant to hold up high numbers, period. My uncle attended an event one day for FWD beacuse he had an intrest to build one perhaps, but that day at the track changed his thoughts completely. It all changed at the finals, or perhaps lack of. EVERY car that came to race that day broke EVERYONE. and at other events hed been 2, nearly half the reason other cars won races is beacuse the other one just died,period. You can say all you want about FWD, but ill trust someone whos been around racing for nearly 40 years before ill belive anything here about FWD. The neon is a very impressive car and basically owns when it comes to FWD, but when theres no one else trying, its easy to own. (tell me the cobalt and ion REALLY pose a threat.) the SRT, it will be a dime a dozen in a couple years just like the mitsu GSX (yes i know it doesnt compare but it was similarly priced for those who couldnt afford 300gt vr-4s like the neon is to people who cant afford vipers). It was a nice car AWD,turbo,5 spd and quick and fun to drive. But look at it now, saw one go for 11 grand only cause it had many mods and low mileage. THis neon is a daily driver for most and as a said high mileage=bad turbo, if your car is your daily driver, you will have high mileage (or do FWD have a way around that too?) and did you REALLY say that when something breaks on your car itll be cheaper to fix? I couldnt belive that at all. Go price out cams for your motor and cams for mine. Dont look for stock parts beacuse why would you put a stock part on again if it broke due to too much HP. Which one do you think is cheaper to fix and buy parts for. The civic which has been around for some time or the mustang that has been around since the dinosaurs and has had parts made since the 60's? no matter how you cut it, the car that has had parts made longer for it will be cheaper beacuse theyve already made there profits on the parts long ago and can sell them at good prices (edlebrock and what not) 2 flow master mufflers (just them alone) will run me 149 dollars if bought straight from edlebrock with no ebay tactics for savings. what does a SINGLE muffler run you?

Wow... so you're listening to your friend who now has an overly biased ignorant view towards FWD cars because he saw one or two break one day at the track? FWD can hold whatever the hell you throw at it. Gator Axles do wonders.
That incredibly long run on sentence is almost impossible to make any sense of, but I will say this. I'm not going to buy just a single muffler. I'll be buying an entire single catback, which will be less than LTs, an X pipe and twin catbacks. Sorry, but you lose that arguement.

Im gonna agree with SI only cuz i dont have the time to read all that.
I'm not a big fan of the LT1 Camaro styling, the LS1 Z28 and the SS are different stories. As is the TransAm and WS6. How those cars don't look aggressive is beyond me. They're specifically made to go fast, hence the reason they're shaped like an arrow and not a box. Those big tires on the back and the low stance....to me, it looks aggressive.
i agree w/ you there. its one of the most aggressive lookin cars ever made. remember the saying in the commercial?? BOOH. i always call it the BOOH car looks way better then the maro.
