I got this pic after googling 2009 Mustang. Under a "2009 Ford Mustang Spied". Website is autobytel.com. If the Mustang looks like this I will be the first in line. I will easily pick this over the Camaro. I love the more aggressive front but still sticking with retro, looks sleek. Just make it red with a drop top and I am set! Says in the article they are gunning for 350+ hp. I drooled at this photo. Keep in mind I also own an Evo. Beef and rice, a well-balanced meal!
Now that looks sweet. I hate to go on record as to whether its real or not..........but at this point I certainly hope it is. It certainly looks like it could be real.........very close to the current bodystyle, but refined and cleaned up. Now lets just see what they put under the hood.
You know I feel like I have seen that article before. I am trying to remember. Let me think...it's coming to me...it's coming. Oh I know, it's the same EXACT picture from the SAME EXACT article that is referred to in the original post.

I usually am a big fan of newer=better, but that "rendering" just doesn't do it for me. This going to sound crazy, and I have no idea why it reminds me of this, but it looks like a giant tennis shoe. Big Wide Sole going all the way around the car. In addition, notice how big the lower grill opening would look if you removed the front license plate bracket? Fugly! If Ford builds this (and I really hope they don't) it will remind me how GM screwed all the sexiness out of the C5 when they came out with the C6....sure the new one outperforms the last but that isn't everything!

You think GM screwed up on the C6? The C5 looks larger and heavier than the C6. The C6 is more compact and looks muscular with the wheel bulges. Looks more like the classic vettes than the C5.

Like I said, it's just my opinion. Let it lie man...
If you want more about how the C6 disenfranchised so many owners, let me know, personally. Everybody has their favorite 'Vettes, the C6 isn't mine....
My point was that this "rendering," of the new mustang doesn't have any of the cues that made it a success. It takes the current model and turns it into a pontiac; "some model that we can throw a ton of plastic on to make it look good." The "rendering," doesn't consider the Mustang's complete history. It relies on too much of the last generation(big shoulders) with no thought of the previous, relevant ones.

im sorry, the camaro and challanger both look like a BIG ugly two door sedan,
if the mustang has 350hp, I hope it has at least 420+ lbs torque all in the mid & top end,.
Ford is starting to drift away from the sports car look, into more of a professional refined look, Id like that in a Family Sedan, not a muscle car. Im sure body kits will be available SPORT/MUSCLE CAR LOOK

That's true the front end does look smaller and less muscular in these "spy" shots but I think that's what Ford is going for to appeal to people like my wife who want more understated styling... I hope a hood scoop is available for the GT to add some bulk to the front fascia.
Oh, and +1 on the Camaro and Challenger point, LOL.
