Default 5-speed manual Shifter Question

I was noticing today that the 5-speed manual shifter is not centered in the boot opening. In fact it is almost rubbing on thedriver side when in first and when in 5th it almost hits at the front of the boot opening.

When in neutral the shifter sits noticably more to the driver side and front of the opening.

It is a 2007 and I have not driven it much and just noticed this today.

Is this normal, or should the shifter be centered ? Is there a way to adjust ?

Thanks in advance

My shifter isn't like that, I have an 05 manual.

I don't know if that's normal on the 07s. Are you having problems with going into any gears? Hear any grinding?

Mine appears to be centered when in neutral, more or less. 5th and Reverse are quite a bit farther to the right than 3 and 4 though, but I've noticed this with all five-speeds.

No problems shifting, just seems to be way out of the center of the opening.

Maybe tomorrow evening I can post a few pictures of it. Or if anyone has pictures of the shifter sitting in neutral, 1st and fifth that would help.

Thanks

Here are the pics, notice how far forward and close to the driver side it is in first gear. Then in neutral the shifter is very much more towards the front and not centered. And then in fifth very far forward.

Does seem to shift fine, but the clearance is very tight and could be better.

Please let me know if this looks right, or is there a problem.

Thanks

well, looks like it would be a bit easier to shift, since it's closer to you in first.. alot of people complain about how far away 5th is

Could be a minor change from 05,06 to 07 to make shifting more ergonomic. Check with the dealer.
