black3.8mustang -> Can I put 17" gt wheels on my v6 that came with 15" rims? (4/6/2007 1:53:44 PM)

I know its physically possible but will my speedo be off If I throw on some stock 17" wheels/tires from a gt on my 15" wheel equipped v6 stang? Thanks

As long as you get the right ratio with your tires sidewall height it wont be too off.

My tires now are P205/65R15 and the wheels I was looking at are 245/45ZR17...

No it wont mess anything up... you'll just notice you'll have less tire height and more rim which will look totally better... hence the second number R45 means the percent height compared to the width... if you looked at your 15"ers it was probably like R50 or R55 something like that... just look at what other guys are running.. better yet just go to the place you buy your rims at and they will be able to figure out everything you need... im not a pro ... just my .02

thats obvious.

245/45/17 will be fine on GT rims as it is the stock size for them. It is also the same overall size as your stock tires, so nothing will be affected. you will notice better handling, and a slightly rougher ride.. but a good kind of rough

maybye not so obvious to everyone otherwise why ask the question... besides... what if they are not the stock tires? just trying to be helpfull... dont be one of those  "i pick on other posts cause im a pro" guy...  now how obvious is that...

I pick on people who anser questions with incorrect information/explanations... becasue the internet is full of misinformation.... dont contribute to the passing of false info. If you dont know the answer.... dont answer

stjames69 -> RE: Can I put 17" gt wheels on my v6 that came with 15" rims? (4/14/2007 1:51:40 PM)

how was my answer false?  did you even read it?  i was right the number after the R deems the percent of the width... your answer " 245/45/17 will be fine on GT rims as it is the stock size for them."  what was that.. LOL nothing i said was wrong or misinforming...  anyways... im not here to get into it with anyone.. no harm done...

AdderMk2 -> RE: Can I put 17" gt wheels on my v6 that came with 15" rims? (4/14/2007 3:45:53 PM)

actually the sizing on a tire is
245/45R17 so the R actually has nothing to do with the width...

R means nothing but "radial"

stjames69 -> RE: Can I put 17" gt wheels on my v6 that came with 15" rims? (4/14/2007 5:07:19 PM)

LOL  YOU DIDNT EVEN READ WHAT I WROTE! LOL LOL i said ...."i was right the number after the R deems the percent of the width"  the number AFTER.. lol I know what the R means.. LOL that is awesome.. so you dont actually read posts... lol you just skim them over and fire out a quick response... well i'll let you have the last word cause i know that is what you are looking for... but mr. adder... YOU are the one that needs to be educated... well at least in reading and comprehension... LOL  but whats the point... i actually have better things to do than argue with some dude over the internet... this is pretty funny though... well have the last word ... im actually looking forward to reading what you'll come up with next... LOL

you said the number AFTER the R is the percentage of the width... the number AFTER the R would be the rim diameter you stupid nubtard

I tried to read it all....but I couldn't. The overabundance of the term "lol" was just too much for me.
I also thought it was funny that about 14 minutes after he posted this::
