Well the muffler welding pry wouldnt help that wouldnt be the main problem for the bad mileage. What type of gas do you use? The manual recommends 87 but i would use 89-91. When driving do you drive windows up or down? Using the a/c with the windows up saves more gas. Also the hard acceleration of course will burn the gas up so just accelerate at a slower-moderate pace and that should help a bit. Plus check your intake to see if its really dirty, if it is then replace it.

A/c does use gas but it wouldnt make that severe of a difference unless its on full blast and your windows are wide open lol i drive my car pretty hard and i get about 16.5-17 to the gallon. i avoid ac at all costs.

ac was put in cars to help gas mileage to keep drag off the rear window. maybe keep an eye on your rpm when you are up to speed. i noticed that when i keep the car below 2k i get 18.5.. before i got dual flowmasters on i was driving at 2k or higher and only getting 17. i keep it below 2k so that im not droning . just a thought

I thought the V-6 got waaaaay better gas mileage than a GT. I do mainly city street driving and get 16-18mpg, on the freeway it's over 20(24-25 if all freeway driving and at least 27 on a long freeway trip). Yeah, you gotta accelerate easy from a dead stop and putting higher octane gas without a tune is just wasting $$$$$$.

Here on Long Island the gas in winter contains 10% ethanol and that hurts mileage.Around town and getting on it hurts too.

Yea, cold weather will kill your fuel mileage. Acceleration is probobly where you're getting killed. Just take it easy and you should see a difference.

Ethanol, cold weather, fouled plugs, hard driving, dirty filters, etc... any of these would cause a drop off in your gas mileage but that sounds like you should get it in for a tuneup.

I drive mine mostly city driving, but I get 16-19 around town and 24-28 on the highway at 75mph. The higher ranges are if I really baby it and shift early, accelerate slowly, etc. Can't say I do that very often though.

I dont know what i am doing that is so different, but I was getting a consistent 200 miles to a half tank right from the showroom floor which shows up at 25mpg all around and got a high mark on a 175mile straight 60mph run with cruise on at 30.6 mpg....I baby it and shift (manual) at 2000-2500 rpm and try my best to rpm match on all downshifts. I thought it might be running lean before i put on my tune but I am now running with Brent's 87 xcal2 tune with C & L CAI and getting same as before the tune.....maybe the difference is in your tranny...

For every thing there is a season, a time to burn out and a time to avoid a ticket.....
