Depends on which paint job you want, standard color or custom (lizstick etc)

Update on my paint.

I took the car outside and looked really close at my wiper this time.  I found a small line of silver paint had transfered to the wiper arm.  Suspicions here were correct and the paint issue is my fault.  Honestly I feel better that it is something I did rather than a defect.  I must have raised the hood with the wipers up while drying the car one day and didn't realize it.

Owners beware.

Update on the car (the origional reason for this thread)

I just recieve a phone call and this is what they did with the car.

1 - replaced my supercharger to fix eratic boost and loud noises

2 - replace entire rear end differential - i guess all 550 was going to the driver side wheel creating the axel to cock and frame to twist making the car go all over the road, so they just replaced the whole axel

They told me its easier to just replace it and then tear them apart and figure out whats wrong, and rebuild them from scratch. They told me the car seems to be driving fine now and my new quarterglass panels are installed ;). Picking it up tomorrow morning!

Hows that for ****ty service?

Ouch man, that sucks.  Sorry it happened to you, but good to know you figured it out and forewarned us all

Or, it could have happened before you took delivery or at a shop.

Or when they fixed/adjusted my hood on a later date...

Bottom line is who knows and it isn't a defect.  Oh well.

Hard to say whether that's good or bad news bomb. You could have gotten it repainted if a defect, but at least we know it wasn't a defect. But I've had two different paint "experts" (one a real paint expert Nick Santini, and one a very good detailer) ask me if I painted the hood on my car myself, so the quality of the paint of saleen parts ain't the greatest, so it really could have gone either way.

Exactly.  If it was a defect I was not looking forward to it getting worse and requiring a repaint.  I figure that's a total crap shoot.  Painting is not easy.

Yes, i just picked it up last night. The car looks great and Saleen took awesome care of me. The quarter glass panels look good and they detailed the whole car and waxed it for me also. I test drove the car and what a difference! it feels like im driving someone elses car and feels more like it should. It feels more powerfull even though i didnt really get on it, because i gave it half throttle in second gear and it squaked the tires when before i would have to be full throttle to do that. The whole rear end and supercharger was replaced and no sounds what so ever! NOW, i recognize the "rock-crusher" noise on the blower and what i heard was NOT that. They also ran a TSB report to see if there are any other recalls so they re-bled the clutch and re-torqued the clutch plate bolts also. They just went overboard, and i couldnt have asked for better service.

They ended up not charging me to install the quarter glass panels because of all the problems ive had, and GET THIS....the scratches from the wiper arms we talked about earlier, when i said i didnt mention it to Saleen because im going to touch it up myself...GONE! and not just touched up, they resprayed the hood! awesome service in troy and very happy with the results. The friend of mine even met me at SSV off hours so i can pick up the car a 8 pm sunday evening, working around my schedule, even though it was ready for pick-up on friday. They fixed a dent that was in my trunk-lid (my fault) and that was the only charge i had which was $250 which is extremely reasonable for fixing a dent and reprep and paint!

All the paint matches, and here are a couple pics for you guys.

thanks again for all your help, i appreciate everything

Dotbomb -- would you mind posting pix of the paint issues with your hood?

Here ya go.  It is just starting and is on the edge facing the driver side.  Probably the only reason I noticed it right away is because of how it reflects light differently as I'm driving.

That almost looks like a scrape... any chance you have matching paint on your windshield wiper arms?

Did you not read the last two pages of this thread - already been diagnosed as a wiper arm scrape
