Alright I have been thinking about this for a while now. I know that I want to put a limited slip in the rear. I am just not sure whether I want just the tlok for the 7.5 or if I should just upgrade to the 8.8. My future mods will hopefully include FI and maybe internals. I love this car and planning on keeping it for a while. I guess the only reason there is a dilemna is because they both cost about the same when it is all said and done. Any suggestions would be great, thanks all

go 8.8 if you plan on going internals in the future. With most forced induction setups, a properly built 7.5 should be fine, but if you plan on internals you are looking at 400+rwtq which will destroy a 7.5 that isn't built pretty hefty, and at that point you could have a well built 8.8 for the same price...

thanks guys that sounds like the right idea to go with the 8.8, all I pretty much need is the rear and the tune, anything else? I know it is not much more and my friend can help me do the labor, he has a lift and he has done the same kind of jobs before. So what all do I need, so I do it right the first time?

I would guessthe8.8 would actually hurt performance a little because it is heavier and has more rotating mass than the 7.5. Also the 8.8 comes stock with 3.31s or 3.55s so if you want 3.73s or 4.10s you will need to open and replace gears, which is what you do to upgrade the 7.5 minus the Tlock.
I am not saying that the 8.8 is a bad idea, matter of fact I am wrestling with this issue as well. Are there any 8.8s we can get from the junk yard or would it be best to stick with the GT takeoffs? Any good sources for a 8.8 GT takeoff out their, I have seen about $1100 shipped.
best place for any gt takeoffs stuff close to new is newtakeoff.com have had great experiences with them. if you are planning on doing 3.73s get the 3.31 8.8 because it should be cheaper. you also wont see much of a difference between the 3.55 and the 3.73 until you start really making that thing work. is the car a daily driver? stick or auto? i would recommend the 3.55 and then go to 4.10s. also if you have not done so upgrade the driveshaft to a gt if it will bolt up to the tranny it should. that way you can avoid other issues. also while in the process upgrade the axles to 31 spline if you want 400rwtq just to be safe. also do you have a pony package? if not take this oppurtunity to buy gt suspension parts. because might as well do it while the rear end is off. are you doing this yourself? or having a shop do it? how much are you looking to spend?
