Default How fast?

In the interest of pleasing JMD I thought I ask:
What's the fastest you've ever had your stang up to?
Personally I'm still finishing mine and have yet to determine, but I don't really think that I want to take it past 120, if even that.

125 m.p.h. at nightin a convertible '85 GT with a 351W with the top down! [sm=lame.gif] It was not one of my brighter moments, but at least I would've only killed myself out in the middle of nowhere heading up Highway 101 on the CA central coast.

BTW, driving that fast with the top down is a bit nuts!

I've had Ol' Yeller up to 120 or so on several occasions on the back roads of west Texas.

128 mph racing a Subaru WRX STI. I hit a rough spot in the road and it was a good thing I was 3 lengths ahead of him cuz it threw me into his lane. After that I chickened out and let him pass me.

The 65?....about 110......the BOSS-302 in 1975?.....closer to 160. This was based on rpm X ?mph per 1000 rpm in 4th. The car had 2 875 inline 4's, roller cam/rockers, trans-am rods, balanced, 1970 block (same as trans-am racing block), 1969 double-cross-drilled crank. The car was lowered 2 in in front, 1 in back with stag 2 chassis mods, Linclon front brakes, front disc moved to back, Koni, Traction-Master. Export, Monti-Carlo, frame connectors, 700 lb front-220 rear springs.

Since other folks are posting the fastest they have been in other than Mustangs here goes...1968 Winston-Salum NC...Zake Reynolds and I were in his car on I-40 running a Ferrarri and we topped out at 185 mph.....it was a 1965 427/SC Cobra with a 494 cid Tunnel-Port, Webber carbed engine. VERY scary. But I was 19 and immortal. Zack thought he was but it turned out he wasen't.

you were 3 car lengths ahead of an STI during a race going 128mph? are you sure he was racing you? Those things are wicked fast, I'm having a hard time believing that one...

they have no top end. they are fast because of the awd which robs alot of power through the drivetrain

They still pull like a mother, so unless this race started at a rolling freeway speed, then maybe....but still, I have a hard time believing he could pull 3 cars on him by 128mph.

Not trying to rain on your parade superdave, I've just seen some of those guys at the track and they shut down a lot of decently built cars.
