I recently traded an 03 for an 07, I love the 07 much better, Its feels like im sitting a lot lower event though its only a few inches and it seems to drives tighter. The 07 interior is much better looking not to mention the exterior. Performance wise i think its close, I never raced either one but the 07 feels like it has a lot more pep,

Something else to consider is the room inside the '07. I could be wrong but I believe there is more head room compared to the old Edge style. I got a free rental a few years ago (2004) and my husband who is 6' 2" felt cramped inside. Definitely take the '07, it's a fun car to drive, especially 5 speed!
I had an 04 anniversary edition. Auto 3.9; traction control-loaded except for leather seats. Got hit head on and walked away. Replaced it with an 07 pony package 5 speed no traction control and no abs. I have to say I love the 07. I think it drives smoother and is roomier than the 04 and handles much better. I also think it has much more pickup and torque although that just may be me talking. I took a trip to Florida and anyone I passed I didn't even have to put it in 3rd gear. I love the car and hope this may help you out. It just looks and sounds better than the old style. Let me know if you have any questions.
