Default starter problems




well the accessories turn on when i turn the key to the on position. but when i try to turn turn the motor over there is nothing...its a brand new starter. car will start when i hot wire it.

So it will start if you jump the positive battery post to the large wire running to the starter on the solenoid? If that's not how you are "hot-wiring it", then we'll need more info.

If that is it,then it could either be a bad starter solenoid or a bad ingition switch (or a bad electrical connection anywhere along that line...).

Electrical problems are always fun... [:'(]

Yeah we need some more info. It's sounding like an ignition switch thusfar, but not sure.

i think i figured out the problem. there is no neutral safety switch hooked up to the AOD...

Yes, and I am not sure how you would hook it up, but that is your problem. One thing I know for sure is that you don't want to eliminate/ bypass the neutral safety switch if at all possible.
