I am looking to get a short shifter for my Cobra and I was wondering if anyone can recommend one.

Thanks for your time.

Sincerely,

Jeff

I think the B&M also makes one but I have to double check this.

Just curious, why would you go with the Pro 5.0?

Hi! Like I said I get back to ya,hehe! I have had the shifter in the car for over a week now and I must tell you it rocks! Im glad this was my very first mod to the car besides Steeda CAI but I wish the lever was closer to the driver although Steeda is releasing a different handle sometime next year that will actually position the shifter closre to you. I really like my shifts now especially going from 3-4, one thing I dont like about it is the 5-6 shiftis too close and if you are not watching you might rip it into 4th, I gueass I have to get use to it and pay more attention for a while. Good luck with decision, no matter which one you choose I think its the best mod to the car period.

Tman,
Couple of questions, is the handle further from you than the stock shifter? Can you now shift quicker from 2nd to 3rd than the stock shifter?

Hi! Its not further away than it was before but its a lot shorter towards the base so you do have to extend your hand a bit. What I noticed right away was the shift from 2 to 3, yes its much quicker and preciseand it clicks in to kind of let you know its sitting in the gear. Im gonna rip it on Saturday this week at the old airport a few times so I will let you know with more details.

Based on posts from an SVT forum, I have decided to buy the MGW shifter. I will also add UPR firewall adjuster and quadrant for cleaner clutch action and prolonged TOB life.

Well, first impression is that the shifts are more accurate compared to stock as also much shorter although it does grind a bit when shifting from 3rd to 4th. 5th gear to 6th is way better, it goes right into it without worriyng you gonna hit 4th. 1st gear you have to get use to it a bit since its a much shorter distance to throw so watchout when powershifting, hehe. I wouldve done more tests but I have a slight issue with either belt or MAF, will see what I can find out about that.
Overall a much better improvement and I only wish the car came from the factory with a similar setup so we wouldnt have to go aftermarket.
Now I will wait till the shifter itself comes out from Steeda that will move the handle closer to you so you dont have to extend much when shifting. I believe its coming out in February for around $35-$40.
Hope that helped a bit!

Got the MGW shifter in, used the red handle. It is sweet, the feel is very different from the stock shifter. There is a definite click from gear to gear. The action very positively forces you to go the next gear. I have not used the steeda or Pro 5.0, but they would have to go a long way to be better than this. Final thing, not as far to reach as stock shifter.
