Default 3:73's OR 4:10'S ??????

Current Mods

-Dual Flowmaster 40 serie's (i love these)
-Aem Cold Air Intake (Getting C&L Soon)
-Diablo Predator 93 TUNE
-JBA Shortie Headers

Now, everybody i speak to say the best mod next what be Rear End Gear's, But which would be the best
4.10'S OR 3.73'S -

4.10's - Im scared of 4.10's cuzz i dont know the diffrence is gas going to be hell cause it already is lol!!!
And how much gas loss?

OR

3.73's - Will i even see a diffrence with 373's since there stock 3:55's ?

My Goal is getting off the line power that's why i ask this question is 4-10 gonna get me more off the line power then 3.73 or is this just for mid rpm's

the gt's have 3.55s, the 4.0l have 3.27 i believe... Yes 3.73's are a nice mod, it wont break you at the pump and you should fell the difference nisely, I don't think 4.10s would hurt that much at the pump either... but i'm not sure that putting 4.10s behind a 4.0l is wise either. I feel the 3.73'sare best for the 4.0l and 4.10s are best for the gee teas

I have 4.10's and I like them a lot. Day to day driving they're a lot more fun.

Just curious if anyone has ever driven 3.73's and 4.10's that could give a definite answer if there is a noticeable difference from the two? After I get my C&L and Tune, this will be next up on the list along with a couple other smaller mods here and there.

4.0l axle is a 3.31

Switching to 3.73 can't do too much for your acceleration. Others who own them may have better comments.

I look at it this way, what are you gonna be doing MORE of? 0-60 drags or cruisin' at 70?

I'm sticking with my 3.31s

If you're racing for $, go with lower gears.

I used to street race 25 years ago with my 70 Cougar.

2.75 gears and a FMX tranny.

Set up next to a built 455 Pontiac with dual fours and tunnel ram.

He kill'd me off the line, got 5-6maybe 7lengths on me and topped out. I'd click 3rd and walk him at 130+. Street lights are HALF a mile apart or more, not a 1/4.

Maybe somebody makes a "quick change" axle? 3.31 street, 4.10 strip. They used to.

IMO, 4.10's are to much gear for the HP of a V6

well with those big ol' 20's 4.1's will be easeier to cope with than if you had the stock 16's or 17's. If you drive on the freeway all the time i'd say stick with 3.73's, but from what i have heard, the 4.1's are actually not too bad. I don't know how they are on the 4.0, but i have driven a few cars with about a 4.1 ratio and it hasn't been too bad.
