trust us all when we say, save your money and get something thats a quality piece.
HP is all about money...the more you spend, the better the gains. i understand that you dont have the $$$$, but its worth saving up for things like this.
I have a 07 Pony Package and put on an AFE Intake and MRT Axle back... I'd say the MRT was the better of the two choices. The AFE I loved when I got it but now that I have the money and the "just go for it" attitude... I am willing to spend the $$$ and get the Intake and Tune combo (most likely the SCT XCal 2 Tuner and C&L Intake combo). Just been reading around and it seems like the best combo that I would want to get.
I am probably going to sell the AFE locally to make up for some of the dough spent on it though. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME with the ebay brandless intakes. They are worthless... alot of problems both with correct fitment, customer support, and esp. returns!!! I rack up 3 different friends that ordered these intakes off ebay already. Only one had a good outcome. The other two had problems fitting it to their vehicle. One had the "finish" (red) fade after a while which I thought was weird since it was anodized aluminum...??? They both could not refund/exchange and had to just keep what they bought.
If you are looking for an intake without a tune... the AFE Stage 1 is the way to go though from my own personal experience. However, now looking towards the future, I should have probably just saved my money and waited to buy the C&L and Tune.. Gears might be next along with other various perf upgrades... who knows.
Good luck and have fun! :)

umm that one on ebay is a replica of the aem brute force intake...just look at it they are the same thing. And it does actually have a spot for the mafs
I wouldn't suggest buying an eBay intake AT ALL. You're not going to be getting a noise when you shift from anything. You'll get some noise while the RPMs are pulling, but nothing like a turbo for instance.
If you buy an intake off eBay, it will either be cheap and/or make the engine run too lean. Running too lean will throw codes and not run properly. If you really want to get an intake, I suggest you save your money and buy a tune and an intake.
If you don't wanna spend that much, you should put that $100 towards one of those electric superchargers on ebay...
I bought my intake & tune combo from Brenspeed (C&L with xcal2) a month before I bought my MRT aeroturbine exhaust. So for that month when shifting I could hear a higher pitch tone coming from under the hood. The sound was crisp and fun.
Then I installed the exhaust. It drowns out that intake sound Seriously if you have the same exhaust, MRT, then you won't be hearing your intake at all. Hell with this muffler I wouldn't hear the valve discharge on an Eclipse psssssssttt. So you shouldn't worry about engine noise.
You want the best performance for the money you put in, right? If you're going to be slamming these bills on the table you want to see and feel a difference. Well you get what you pay for. Ignore eBay. That's just a gamble with the house you shouldn't double down on. Save your money, invest wisely. It might take another month or two to save up the extra cost. But the quality and performance will make you realize why the wait was worth it.
I was selling my AFE intake locally. Just sold it for $200.00... nice intake thought :P just wanted the C&L with a Tune... what I should have done in the first place *kicks self in the ass*. I bought it for around $140 though (shop cost) so I actually made out with $60 ;)

The biggest bang for the buck intake-wise is in replacing the restrictive OEM filter element. From what Justin at VMP Tuning told me something like 80% of the gain is from replacing the element. The remaining 20% is the tube.
I'm going with the Western Motorsports unit. I like the way this design eliminates the curves found in all the other CAIs. http://www.wmsracing.com/wmsweb/05hvi.htm
I tossed the eBay AEM clone CAI on my 2005 V6 when I did the tune -- I can't say how much of a difference the CAI made, but the two together were a real kick in the pants. The quality of the clone's pretty excellent: the welds are professional, the mounting hardware and heat shield are all high-quality, even the K&N-ripoff oiled-cotton cone filter looks decent (I'm actually running with it until my real AEM Dryflow filter gets in).
And, for a quarter of the price of the AEM unit, what's not to love?
honestly make your own intake. all you need is some1 to bend the pipe, powder coat it and put a K&N filter on it and it's half the price.
If you go this route, you should be prepared to have it dyno tuned. Building your own MAF tube can throw the maf readings off and cause you to run lean, stall and/or throw codes.
