Is a 285/35/18 tire too wide for an 18x9 rim?

yeah... if you look @ the tire co's sites...they'll show you on the spec page the approved rim size for each tire...

9.5 is min size for 285/35 ..... you culd fit it....but not recommended... Nitto 555 275/35 or 275/40's would work.... as an example

You can never have too much power, just not enough traction.

Addermk2,  You seem to be keen on wheel/tire questions.  Can you help?  I've got 17"x9" deepdish wheels on a 06 GT with the stock 235x55 tires.  They look pretty darn good but I'd like to
run as wide a tire as I can without the tire sticking out too far past the fenders. 255x50s have pretty much the same height as I'm running, but I've heard 265x50 might be better. (however can't find anyone who sells 265x50s.  Any input would be appreciated.

I am infact quite knowledgable about tires, but I dont know jack diddly SQUAT about the S197 cars...

I dont know what the max dimensions are so im not the right person to ask.. However, I could tell you anything you need to know about fitting wheels and tires on a 94-04
