Default Zex Nitrous on 2005 Mustang GT

I went to a tech night yesterday evening sponsored by our local Mustang Club. I have never really thought about installing a NOS setup in my car but after last night I am seriously considering it. I am looking at the ZEX system, probably go with a 100 shot setup. I was comfortable with the info I received from the shop personnel, I want to confirm it with real live setups. I am looking for feedback from owners that have a similar setup. I will be installing my CAI and Brenspeed tune soon, can they adjust the tune to compenstae for NOS? How does the tune know if I am going to shoot NOS or not? The rep last night stated the timing needs to be retarded when shooting NOS? Does the SCT X cal have this capability? The Nex system seems to have pretty good safety features, with several shut off features for low fuel pressure, low RPM, and a few others. I know there are a number of posts which I read today, I would like direct feedback from guys with a Nex setup with pros and cons. Any additional features I should look for, remote opening, warmer etc.

Thanks for your help in advance.

I've been running the Zex kit for over a year with 100hp shop with 1 step colder plugs and no problems. The question about the timing is one of the draw backs to Nitrous. You would run a tune that retards you timing all the time unless you have a flip-switch or retune. I run my Nitrous tune all the time. There are ways to run an MSD Ignition system that will retard the timing only at activation but It will cost over double the cost of the whole Zex kit. Overall I am pleased but I am looking for more and hate filling bottles so I am going with a Kenne Bell in October. I would definitely recommend you get a purge kit and a bottle heater to get the most out of the kit. The only problem is the zex bottle heater draws more then my alternator can keep up with so I have to cycle it off and on every so often or my battery weill die. Might be too much info but you asked and I am bored.

the bottle is a good mod for about 700 bucks you can be ready to go. Order the kit through brenspeed and you get free nitrous tunes from them otherwise its like 100 bucks.

I bought all my nitrous stuff off ebay. then run the 89 octane tune with HTO plugs and a 100 shot. I havent dynoed it yet, with a 100 shot it really gets up there and moves. The motor feels like it could handle alot more. WhenI go to the track Im thinking of runnnin the 125shot with the 89 tune and a little race gas. 103 octane.

I have the zex 100 shot, I love it. I would recommend the warmer, window switch, and bottle opener.

Ive been running the ZEX for a while now(50bottles give or take.).Im running the 125shot with an adjusted 93 tune and HTO plugs. The stock pump will only handle the 75-125 shot.Above that & its time for an aftermarket pump. The kit will work just fine with out the purger and a bottle warmer. However I would use a hand held torch to heat the bottle up when I planned on running.Optimum bottle pressure should be between 1100-1300psi.DO NOT go above 1300 or you will most likely say bye-bye to your plastic intake! And dont go under 900psi,,it will just feel like a slug to you!Always remember to turn your bottle off when you get out due to 1.)Loss of NO2 & 2.)you dont want NO2 to puddle in your intake!Upon start up you may also bye-bye to your intake!Ive also seen starters get thrown off the block due to this. But anyways,ZEX is a reaqlly good kit thats probally the best kit out there for our cars!Hope this helps.BTW there is a FAQ section here for NO2 that will answer ALLLLLLL your ???????!LOL!Has to do it.Sorry!LOL!

I run a 150 shot no problems yet, everything is fine. I would recommend buying the zex tuner kit on ebay 150 for pressure gage, warmer and purge it is really a good buy.
