I have never in my life, have I received an A$$ BEATING like that in my life. I am not going into details, cause I might get watery eyes!!! To make along story short, when I talked to the guy, he was running twin turbos and dynoed over 425 fwhp!!!! I am sorry I let us down. Now maybe, my wife will let me get a nice turbo or S/C????
425hp in the small tiny golf GTI..... just goes to show never to underestimate the underdog...... oh well **** happens hehe....
Supercharge yours, then ask 4 a rematch!..... dont know if just supercharging is enough to smoke him though.. :S in the mean time,....stay away from him lol
A buddy of mine has a 94 Civic EX with a 1.6 DOHC Vtec and a T4 ball bearing turbo and it's all I can to to beat him! He does run drag radials on the street.... but still a hell of a race! I came from the import scene, and it can be tough out there with some of these sleepers.

How embarrasing! Smoked by a VOLKSWAGON....... Time to save your pennies for the only mod that you ever really needed - forced induction. Any forced induction setup done right should give you the ability to compete with the deadly VWs out there.
The 1.8T motor in A4s and Mkivs is pretty mod friendly. Swap on a bigger turbo, injectors, software, and some other tweaks and 400+hp is easy. I used to own a modded A4, very quick car. I imagine the new 2.0T is fun to play with to. I never heard of anyone going twin turbo, but eh.
If anyone follows BMWs the new 335ci looks scary as hell to mess with.
Also look out for the older late 90's early 00's Audi S4's, they came bone stock with a 2.7L twin turbo charged V6 and with just a tune are over 400HP. Those S4's were all wheel drive quattros so they hook up instantly. Sleepers without the badging, on the outside they look just like the A4 130HP four banger.
The B5 generation Rs4s are Avants, ie station wagons. Same 2.7l V6 but with two K04s, larger than the turbos on stock S4s. I forget their output but its 400hp+ That being said those cars were incredibly unreliable.
I'm pretty sure the 335s with just a tune could walk a GT.

I came from the euro scene, I owned a nicely modded MkIV 1.8T Jetta that put down 225whp before nitrous(FMIC kit) then it was 250-260whp. I supprised a lot people that used to pull up on me and think I was just a dumb little VW. untill I kicked the crap out of them. It's hard to tell sometime's what a easy kill will be. Don't feel bad. That was the car I sold to get my mustang. http://s34.photobucket.com/albums/d144/jettiwarrior2004/dodge%20ram/?action=view¤t=pics239.jpg

Ouch thats gotta hurt. Are you driving a V6 or GT? My bro is fixing up an old bug. Spent about 7k just on the motor, and I can't wait to race him when he breaks the motor in and gets everything else running. I rode in it, and I don't doubt that VWs can be pretty quick.

It's just my opinion, but the Golf could be made out of gold and it would still be just a Golf. At least the Mustang has character. Let's be honest, when was the last time you noticed a Golf driving down the road??? Probably never. But every time a Mustang drives by, you look and you listen and maybe give a thumbs-up.
