Hey, I've been working on my '66 mustang until I had some family problems as well as others that hasn't allowed me to work on it. So, I had a transmission leak that I really didn't want to deal with so a friend, who is a working mechanic, says that my shift shaft seal is leaking along with my pan seal. He started working on it, got to the shift shaft seal and had to stop. According to him, there is a special seal puller for that seal. Asking my teacher who is a 30 year Ford mechanic, he had never heard of this puller although he does say that there could be a puller for the seal.
So, is there a shift shaft seal puller for this C4?

IIRC when I rebuilt mine I just used a screwdriver to pop it out, Its been about ten years though so you might want to look at other options that pose less risk of damage first.

Well, most of the roof, rockers, and aprons are original. Getting closer...
Go down to your auto parts store and ask for a seal remover. Kind of looks like an ice pick. Its pointy at one end and as you pry it forward it works the seal out of place. You can work each side of the seal out a little at a time and not harm the drive shaft at all. I got mine from NAPA for about $10 bucks.
Thanks for all the help. I ended up taking it down to a local transmission shop and they fixed the seal, did pan seal with the filter and fix my band adjuster nut in and out in three hours for $200. I didn't want to mess with it and screw something up just in time for senior prom. Thanks anyway.
