Made the near 2 hour trip since my local track was closed. Very first run lookie what I got
Yes, your eyes don't fool you, thats an 11.97 @ 118.76 w/ 1.79 60'
Other runs were a 12.1 & 12.0, but I got really bad launches. Had a good cool down on those runs and they both had the potential for 11.8's - best trap speed of the night was 121 mph! That was a fun ride!
After my first run I felt it was pretty good, felt like it was an 11 second pass. I knew it was when I got the the ticket booth and the lady handed the timeslip to the guy that ran me (in front of me I took the long road back)... she looked at the slip to hand it to him, looked back at me, looked at the slip... got a scowl look on her fact (I wasn't even wearing a helmet)... I pull up and she's says in this nagging kinda voice "you need to go see tech NOW!!!!" ... I said "hell yea!" and she hasn't even gave me my timeslip yet! She got this puzzled look on her face and said in an even nastier voice "do I need to mark your car or can you find your way there" I said real nice "I can find it, ma'am" ... cause I wasn't about to be kicked out for NOT running straight water, NOT having a driveshaft loop, NOT having a bar, I did have a helmet in the backseat though and I figured if I ran another pass with the helmet on maybe she'd think I talked to tech.
Well I ran and the next time around she was all smiles seeing me with a helmet on and handed me my timeslip and I was off. Gainseville is a BIG place, BIG track the shutdown lanes were LOOOOONNNGGGG. The track wasn't as nice as it looked on TV though. Was hardly no real race cars there, maybe 5 - the track was like 75% imports. I doubt I'll be going back out there now that I got my slip, but it was neat to race at a different track for a change.
