Bottom line, an excuse making kid (never admits defeat) wants to race me in his older Cobra.  I personally think I'll wax him since my car goes consistant 12.8's at the track - In street trim.  I know he has some bolt-ons on the car, but no power adders or motor work.

I have 4.10 gears and pretty much every bolt on you can get for these cars before going FI, but it is a much heavier car and a convertible.

Give me your oppinions.

Depending on the year and the shape it is in it will run between a 13.6-14.3 on a good day.You should leave him in the dust.

That's what I thought. Yesterday we ran from a stoplight (I also had 400 lbs worth of passengers in my car) to about 80 and pulled 2 cars on him.  He then says "Oh you were runnin', my fuel system's messed up"    Told ya he makes excuses.  So I'm going to challenge him to an even run on the track, no excuses.  He'll make up another excuse.

You''ll own him.....With bolt-ons and driving his best he might run a 13.3-13.5. That's still far short of your high 12's

You know that technically you can run 12s with a bolt on Cobra right?  It's the same as running 12s with bolt on New Edges.  Not saying it happens often but it can.  Drag radials, 4.30 gears, full exhaust can probably get that car into the 12s.

I have no doubt the OP will win especially considering he just raced him and won but just wanted to throw that out.

I would think that you would have the edge w/ a 12.8 but, watch it. Those things have a lot of potential. I guess you showed him though w/ that run so you should be fine.

dude, put money on the line!

i owned 06 mustang GT bone stock! and i would beat or dead even with my buddy's modded 97 cobra!

his mods were:
4:10s
suspension work
intake
tune
M/T ET streets
shifter

he would run 13.5-6s all day and another driver got in it (better driver) and he ran best of 13.4
i ran best of 13.4 too. we raced ones and we were dead even. he cut the light off better due to drag radials and i caught him. we both ran 13.6

so don't even worry about it. you will wax him!

just curious but what are you trapping with the 4.10s and bolt-ons cause i'm thinking bout doing either 3.90 or 4.10 gears, can't decide which though..

Last time I went, I trapped @ 106, but I've since added a driveshaft, so I'm hoping for 107-108.

I don't think that the 94-95 cobra's are much slower in the 1/4 mile, they both run low 14's (the 5.0 cobra's have alot of torque) but up top a 96-98 would kill a 5.0
