^^^Those are good ones, although the FMIC can be pricey.  35# injectors with LA3 swap.

If you make sure you check for detination than your fine. The knock sensors on the 2.3 are way to sensative, when you disconect it you should lose like a tenth or more off your ET

kool, i think im going to get a k&n filter and a LA3 Swap with 35 injectors. I can get a used computer on ebay for 5 bucks, not that bad, or i could get one at the local junkyard that they say it hasnt been reprogramed.

will this BOV or BPV work with my SVO? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180095200172

They tend to pick up on vibrations and such and pull timing thinking the car is knocking even if it isn't.  Like sleeper said, as long as there is no detonation there is no problem.

Good start.  Just remember that the LA3 requires re-pinning a couple of wires.  It's not quite a direct swap.  A 3 in. downpipe and exhaust is not only a performance adder, but it also makes the cars sound much better.  Combine that with the manual boost controller and around 18psi, you've got yourself a pretty quick 4 cyl.

I would avoid that.  It looks like a cheap knockoff, and only good to 16-18 psi?  A BOV is not necessaary, and most 2.3T users stick with the BPV.  I'm still running the stock setup and ~20 psi without any problems.

Did I mention that I am a turbo noob and dont know anything about mods that you can do to them. After looking at other websites, i got some things straight..and two unanswered questions.

Is it possible to get a blow off valve on a svo, to get that "woosh" sound?
If i get a boost controler, what do you guys recomend and do I need a better boost gauge(people say the stock one is crap)?

Yes a BOV will work, but use the stock one with a manual valve (I think that sounds right) if you go onto ebay and search manual boost controler you should see what I mean, or as tbird, mr merk, or MG man

If you plan on turning the boost up you will want an aftermarket boost guage.  The factory one just isn't precise enough for any sort of fine tuning.

I'm pretty sure you need to change to the square intake manifold when you change to LA3 and 35# injectors. I have heard this from several sources. The 84-85 have inline intake. I've been considering the same swap for my 85 SVO.

Your knock sensor should be on the lower intake pointing towards the strut towar

What gear where you in??? Also there are a few things that would cause this (no more power after a certin RPM)

Like tbird 231ci will point out. can use a blow off valve. But after a blow off car will run real odd.{rich}. Let us face it bov just got rid of the air for next amount of fuel. I  am using a bypass valve on a 89turbo. You make ask tbird about easy of driveable with a blow off valve.

No you dont you just need to repin the eec plug and put the 35lb injectors in the inline fuel rail.  The actual intake doesn;t matter.
