ok, I've decided that the best place to start, for me anyway, is an exhaust for my 2003 GT. that being said, here are some questions hopefully you guys can answer.

1) Are BBK and MAC the only manufacturers who make long tube headers for late model GT's?If no, then who else?

2) If I put on a long tube header, can I use any of the stock downstream components (just for a bit, until i get more $$) ?

3) If i can't use any of the stock components with the headers what are my options? - orwhat componentscould I use that would work with the stockmanifold/header and still work with long tube headers a bit down the road? I need to use Cat's in case thats an issue.

I know I'm asking alot, but I really want to do what's best for the car - performance wise - and don't mind waiting to do it right eventually. Also I would abosolutely hate the "droning" sound so if any of this would cause that please let me know.

thanks

Check my sig and look at my mods. I have a small drone at around 1800 rpm, but in all actuality its kinda quite. The prochamber really quiets it down alot and magnaflow is a great flowing exhaust but really isnt all that loud either. To help answer your questions:

1. To my knowledge, yes they are at the moment. BBK is superior in quality to Mac in most every aspect, I chose Mac because I got a great deal on a used setup.

2. Your cat-back exhaust can remain, but your h-pipe will have to be replaced. The longtubes require a much shorter h-pipe.

3. You can't use any h-pipe with both your stock manifold and a set of longtubes.

You need to consider the cost of longtube installation in your budget. If you intend to do it yourself, be prepared to spend10+ solid hardworking hours to install them. I installed my longtubes, they are definately worth the improvement. With my full exhaust, I honestly can say I gained 35+ hp from the full exhaust setup and the car now pulls hard all the way to redline, where as before power fell off after 5k. Good luck with your decision.

thanks for the help just a few more questions if you don't mind...

I'm also planning on lowering the car a bit with springs - an inch or so, would i have problems with the long tubes in this regard? I read your post earlier and it sounded like the system, at its lowest point, only hung a half inch lower than the stock setup. Am I understanding this correctly? Finally,do you know which header out of the two "hangs" less?

Nah I don't know which one hangs less, but I'm gonna lower my car 1 1/4 inch soon and its not gonna be a problem with the Mac longtubes for sure. Other people have complained of scrubbing on bumps and such, but I dont know what cars or brand long-tubes they were using.
Do you know if the BBK's are louder? I like the loud sound of my Mustang with the stock manifold and an offroad H-pipe exiting through flowmasters. I'd like to keep it just as loud as it is now if not louder.
