that's easier said than done since I doubt too many of us use a barometer at the track and you need the barometric pressure along with the air temp and humidity to do a corrected timeslip, right MD????:)

Thats correct, you need the barometer, humidity, temp, and altitude. BUT... you can get the info from www.accuweather.com for the last 24 hours, hour by hour. Pretty neat huh? Your gonna have to get the sea level altitude somwhere else though, usually the website for your tracks list it.

If anyone needs step by step instructions it can be found on the sticky in street / strip...

well.. thats the conversion... it works for MOST cars but some can be way off... like a weak car with a drag suspension and sicks, or a high hp car without much traction ... but if your not in either of those categories than it should be nearly dead on.

i have more exhaust than stock, its a sunroof car, rear battery, extra oil lines, intercooler, piping, turbo, and no spare. and i probably weigh like freakin 125 but i havent checked in a while. its a conservative estimate, but id say its better to overestimate than to say i have a fatter hp number than i really do. forgot, i have 17x9 cobra r's so that cant help either

You can get your car weighed at a drag strip or I've know people to go truck scales.
Using 2900lbs, your flywheel HP calculated to 182HP

ok so if my friend ran against me on the same run with2.23 60", 9.5006 et, and 74.28 trap what power does it say he has? weight is also probably 3150 to 3200.

I got 236hp using 3150 as the weight and 218hp if I use 2900lbs.

Best pass was a 14.06 (97mph) with a 2.02 60ft. Im power shifting at 6000rpm. Clutch isnt slipping. With my mods I should be in the mid 13's dont ya think? I know I need an upgraded MAF but still. Could I be running lean or somehting? My car runs great unless I turn on the A/C then it idles like crap and dies after a while. I changed the TPS and Idle air control. Didnt help. No codes are showing. Im guessing I need a tuner to see whats up, any suggestions? Oh and I have to shift into 4th in the last 100-150 feet or so or the damn rev limiter kicks in which I know is killing my times.

I launched at 3000 and got a really grab. Thats when I ran the 13.37. Then I launched at 3500 and spun a little. So I figure 3000 to 3300 is the best launch rpm. The tire pressure was at 18 psi. Im gonna let it down to about 15 next time but I should have the control arms on next weekend. :D

I figure I can pick up another tenth with control arms and lower tire pressure. :D

Yea, I was basing that off what other ppl with similar cars run. I have a buddy who's low 12's right now with 3.23 gears, a lid, a stall, and some DR's. Those are his ONLY mods. I still don't have a stall though....[>:]

Experiencing a .840 60' time is absulutly unbelievable. I have friends that ask me what its like, all the time. They say "what does it feel like? Is it at all like my 11 sec ride in feel?" What I tell them is, until you;'ve experienced it, it is unfathomable. I contend that if I hade a passenger seat in the dragster and took someone for a 4 second ride, at the end of the track after getting out of the car, the passenger would be white faced, completly shellshocked, and wouldn't be able to talk for a while, scared ****less. The G's are unbelivable. When I licensed in a 8 sec dragster, I thought that was unbelievable, especially the launch. (1.2-1.3 60'). When I licensed in a top alcohol dragster, I thought .920 60' times were unfathomable and unbelievable, unbelievably extreme, until I licensed in the top fuel car. It's all so relative. Here's a good analogy; driving a fuel car is a lot like riding a bull. You don't enjoy it 'til it's over and both can have a mind of their own. You gotta be ready for anything and everything the car throws at ya, trying not to fight it to much.

I didnt want to post my time yet until I made a good pass with the right tire pressure and launched at the right RPM since I know I can hit the 13's as is, but some ass monkey decided to post it any way. Vfast started one too, but it never stayed up long. No mod ever stickied it, so it never stuck around (wish it did). Before OB and I became mods there were no mods that really drag raced - so thats probably why. At any rate, its up now and both OB and I maintain it and update it usually within an hour of the time getting posted.

Im sure that Cummins is AWD, prolly did it on street tires too. The reason the hp #'s are so low compared to the torque is because those things don't rev very high, and because hp is a function of tq vs rpm - Most diesels usually rev to only 3500 or 4000 rpm redline. Trap speed is low because their so heavy and aerodynamic. Impressive run! A guy here ran a 15.6 in a stock F250 diesel, with the addition of just a programmer he ran 14.2 @ 93, cut a 1.9 60'

The low e.t. is mostly because of the first 1/3 of the track i would guess. The truck only revs to 3250, which means it goes through 1st and 2nd almost instantly...3rd only takes me to about 80mph, the last 20 some mph is pulled in 0/D.. which is 0.69 and with 3.55 gears. That's why the low trap speed. That and the truck isn't very aerodynamic. It sits just as high as every other 2500 4x4... and has a race weight of 6900lbs. The run was on 285/75 16 AT tires. I leave the line in 4wd and just knock it back to 2wd once in 3rd gear. Build 16-20lbs boost and hang on.

I'll try to scan the time slip and maybe a dyno chart if i can some time today. One last note... those hp/tq numbers and 1/4mile were with a single charger and 80hp injectors. I've got compound twin chargers and 240hp injectors now. Can't wait to get it to the track once i get the tuning right. Will probably be in the spring.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. Look for numbers in the ballpark of 600rwhp/1300ftlbs and 12.00 or so in the quarter when the current setup gets tuned and on the dyno and track. I'll share the results when i get them.

Just in case anyones wondering, my truck isn't even all that fast for a diesel. There are quite a few 4x4 trucks that are streetable running in the 10's at speeds close to 130mph. The little 359c.i. 6cyl cummins is a stout motor with tons of potential. Dont' underestimate it. They can be real sleepers.

Damn that sounds serious;) If you want to launch off the limiter then you'll need slicks, M/T 26x8.5x15's or 26x10x15's's should do it . Buy some used welds or other light weight wheels and you're all set. Now if you're a lazy bastid like me and don't wanna change tires at the track then the 275x50x15 M/T drag radials are the hot ticket. With either tire be sure to bring clean shorts on your first time out, you'll thank me later.:D

BTW don't get anything 17" or you'll be suckin' at the track

So i don't even think I was breakin 300rwhp with the shot.

Actually I am still on my 275x50x15 BFG DR's till spring. I plan on selling them localy and picking up a pair of M/T DR's then. The M/T DR's are better than the BFG's going by folks that have had both. I'm launching off the 2-step @ 5000 and getting right in the bottle. Best 60' has been 1.60 on the juice and 1.71 N/A. The Streets would be a good tire but the M/T DR's hook just as well and are much more stable on the top end. I'm old and don't like the car moving around on the to end:D

Well I wasnt quite as happy as I thought I would be this race but I did well. I figure you guys wouldnt believe these times out of a bolt on so I'll go to Walmart tomorrow and get it on CD. LOL Anyways... without further ado...

He's getting some of that good negative DA air for sure. JD's in Texas isn't he? I'd like to see a DA correction on that pass. My bests were ran at right around 0 DA , which is about as good as it gets around here:D

Hmmm... its coming around now :D at JD's track it was, at 9pm, 41*, 70% humidity, 30.31 bar, 625 feet? = -800 DA ... so yea thats good weather :D JD's doin real well to get that 60' outta that cold of weather.

So, -800 DA right now compared to an average day over there of 94* (holy sh!t!) = 3376 DA... thats a 4000 DA difference = .7 tenths off the e.t. and 5 mph trap speed..... WOW, no wonder your times blew nuts in the summer JD - but your makin up for it now buddy :D Just like me!

That's why, where you race is as important as what you race. You'll see incredible times ran by folks with few mods in the NorthEast , Texas , and other places that run all winter. Tracks around here close in mid-November, plus the rainy season starts about mid-October. Usually by the time the cool air hits us , it's raining. :eek: I'm depressed, today is a negative DA day here with bright sunshine and not a track open:(

Im gonna see 12's before we know it LOL. Im powershifting like there is no tomorrow. Just before I went to the track last night, I checked the DA and it was only suppose to be like 300. I dont know what it got to. The track elevation is 593 ft. My first run was a 13.22, then a 13.02 and the last best run was a 13.07. Then I let the car cool down and let the tire pressure out and I went back out after an hour and the track got SOOO hard. I couldnt get any traction for sh!t. Im gonna head back there as soon as Christmas is over. We are expecting snow here on Friday... so I dont think they are gonna run. :(

Thanks. All I have done to the suspension is H&R lowering springs (which is actually hurting my times) and upper and lower control arms. The control arms helped me pick up about .20. Im also running 275/35/R17 Nitto 555R Drag Radials. Those and the 4.10's actually helped me pick up like .40 in the 1/4. Im gonna get a C&L upper plenum and Accufab Throttle body soon after Chistmas... so that should put me at or about 12.8 im hoping. :D

*Throttle body and Plenum are still considered "bolt-ons" arent they?* LOL I dont want any objections when I say a "Bolt-On" GT ran in the 12's. LOL

dude named Tony from Tallahassee ran 12.6 with bolt-ons and regular Nitto's (not street tires), so I don't think anyone will be objecting :D Good luck!
