I think ill post this here too, since not everyone goes to OT...
I went to look at a cobra today...didnt drive it, i really didnt have time to or deal with the sales pitch and crap....but heres the deal:
1996 Cobra, 74k the darker red w/ black leather motor looked immaculate- no oil, sludge buildup, etc no rust as i could see interior had front seat wear, like most leather interiors ive seen... magnaflow catback system(Wahoo!) and it had some scratchs on the front bumper, through the paint, and minor scratchs a few other places the rear tires look like they are dry rotting(not the worst ive seen tough) they want 11,900 for it. the salesman said that he would go talk to the manager/owner or somethin...he said that apparently they would sell the dealership before they let the car go any lower
so how does it sound?
and if i can get them to replace all 4 tires, and fix the front bumper, how much would it be worth? maybe 10.5? Id try anything to get them to lower it
and another thing- this makes another salesman that thought i owned the 4 langan car dealers around here(too bad I dont)
You definitely have a lot of room to go down. Don't be afraid to walk like diesel1 said.
I have a 97 Cobra (78,000 miles and some change, sounds like same or better condition paint-wise and I just put four new tires on it) that I'm selling and am looking to get around $9,000. Worst-case scenario.....you can buy mine . Best of luck with your hunt.
Yeah NY I'd say Walk up in that stealership and say either 10,500 or 10,900 but OUT THE DOOR!!!! Say that price, out the door or I'm walking. You'll probably get it and that would actually be good, that'd mean you're getting it for like $9,000 or so after taxes and fees. which would be ok. Seriously tho just try it, I told my friend to do that and he actually got an awesome deal. You must make it clear that you want that deal or nothing. good luck.

yo man, the 96 cobra is worht about 8000 at most especially if it has some dings and scratches. i would say give him no more than 8500 or walk the hell away. but thats jmo
Also I never liked the 96-97 cobra rims much either.
I have a 97...they're not the best, but they're ok. What did the 98 wheels look like? Five spoke typical cobras or something else? I can't recall. Thanks

i think i might talk to mills more...thats a way cleaner cobra then at the dealer! and imo, cloth>leather. i dont like burnin my butt(vinyl in the chevelle takes care of that). Does it have any mods to it? looks like a catback...
but some good news- im starting to get interest in my sixxer. bad news- i wont get as much as i hoped. so less mod money(guess ill have to keep my tax return a seecret so i can afford a short throw)
Not the best? They're certainly no terminator, but I love my 97 reguardless.
With the right mods, they can look mean as hell, sound mean, and be wickid fast.
As for the rims, they might be the same, but there was also a 98 cobra that looks like my old ones in my sig pic. So I didnt want to say 98 just in case.
Atlanta area.....I see you're from West Chester.....I'm originally from the Burgh!

Beautiful car though, immaculately clean. Which of the two do you find yourself driving more?
Thanks for the props....definitely drive the Cobra more, it's my daily driver to work and back. You are right about the wheels....96-97 had my wheels stock....98's had thinner five stars. I'm a big fan of the 98 wheels....so much so that I had the dealership where I bought mine throw the 98 wheels in at their cost. Only problem was, the dealership was 140 miles from where I lived and I never drove back over to cash in on the agreement.

Nothing but a K&N airfilter and the old-school Saleen pedals in the picture....otherwise stock.

definately a better deal then...only thing being that i think ill have to sell the 02 first(unless you want to trade). but what options does it have? whats its history? it looks like youve taken really good care of it- it looks brand new under the hood!
Options are everything except leather (power seat, mirrors, etc....).
History is clean title; I am the second owner with the first owner having put 35,700 miles on it before trade-in in 2001 and myself putting the rest on since then. Originally titled in Tazwell, VA. After I bought it, it saw a Chalseton, WV winter (or lack there of; parked when it snowed) and was parked during the winter after I moved back to Pittsburgh the next year.
It was my first Mustang.....so I took care of it accordingly. I hate to see it go, but baby seats don't go well in either of the Mustangs, so one has to go .
