You rank the cobra R way low. 385 hp N/A an a road race ready suspension. You can't just go by people puting a 1,500$ supercharger on a car and think that makes it the greatest thing in the world.

I would rank the V10 prototype number one. It is time to make a 600 hp N/A mustang in my opinion.

Sorry but I must disagree. I may be biased but I think the 03/04 Cobra should be up in the top three. The Saleen S281 series and Roushes are just a bunch of maxed out GT's. Where is the 03 COBRA SALEEN on your list . In addition to a body kit and suspension mods, I think they use an L pulley. IMO, that would be the top dog.

Pyrro, the engine on a Saleen cobra is left bone stock, no pulley mod. Also realize the S281E is not in the same league as the S281sc. The E car engine is built like the cobras', and the twin screw blower used kills the cobras eaton for potential and efficiency. The 03 S281E's and up are rated at 445 hp. The E car is WAY more car than a 03 cobra.

I think you are overlooking a key player.
http://www.kennybrown.com/
He was the engineer who made Saleen a winner.
His cobra may not be #1 in hp numbers but id take that car over any other on the track.

Overpriced ??? Guess that depends on what you can afford. The Mach 1 isn't a GT. It's got a Cobra engine with 32 valves and Double OverHead Cams. The under-body suspension and brakes are also beefed up. From the factory, it sits about 1 1/2" lower than the GT. 305 HP stated by Ford is understated. Get in one a drive it before you make a statement like "Mach 1 - WAY overpriced GT with a body kit". From a dig in a quarter I've never been beaten by a stock SVT ... from a roll or over a quarter mile, it's a different story. No bashing or flaming intended ... just stating facts.

Let's disect my post a little.

Saleen S351 R- 351 Windsor, blower, 500 HP - This is the king.
Saleen S351 - 351W, little less horsepower, no replacement for displacement
Saleen 281E- Supercharged 281 (like the Cobra) 425HP and a Saleen kit.
Roush 380R- 380 horsepower and better suspension than the Cobra (not to mention the Roush kit)
2003 Cobra - I just like supercharged cars with A/C and almost four hundred HP
2000 Cobra R - Only here and not at the top because it's not a great street car. yeah it's fast around corners, but you don't autox on the street.
Sean Hyland Motorsports Cobra- 405/425 HP around there. Stupid wheels, ugly car.
Roush Stage 3 - Overpriced GT with a blower and some suspension.
Roush Stage 2 - Overpriced GT without a blower and with some suspension.
Mach 1 - WAY overpriced GT with a body kit, hood, wheels, and shaker hood. 305 is NOT enough for me.
GT - Obviously not a Cobra, not a Roush, not a Saleen, but still nice cars
Roush Stage 1 - It's a V6 Mustang with exhaust and suspension and a body kit
V6 - can be fast, but yeah, stock they blow.

Good breakdown until you get to the ROUSH cars. >Glad you can at least spell it< [:D]

If you just look at flywheel HP then the Mach 1 outdistances the Stage 2 cars. [;)]
And the SHM car should be bumped up a bit. Is this an opinion poll or facts?
[8|] Because in the end ... even the S351R is a overprived V6.[;)]

No. This is the SR.

The S351 R was a race version of the street S351. Again, I believe the difference was an emission exemption. In 1995.

Birdieman4 -> RE: Mustang Heiarchy (7/7/2004 6:25:05 PM)

S351R was n/a right?
