i am looking at this amp on ebay and it has the power rated output as follow:
300W x 1 @ 4ohm
500W x 1 @2ohm

What's the different between 2 and 4 ohm?  is the higher the ohm the better the sound?
if i want my amp to produce 300W how do i connect it?  and if i want 500W how do I connect the amp to produce 500?  Will there be instruction in the box?

subs come in different voice coil configerations(single or dual voice coil) and these coils come in a couple of different impedences(ohms).  A 2 ohm sub is not better then a 4 ohms sub, it will just allow you to get more power out of the amp, and this will mean more sound.

A dual voice coil(DVC) speaker is not better then a single voice coil(SVC), it will just allow for a couple of different wiring schemes to allow you to get the most power out of your amp(if you do it right).  Matching your sub to your amp is important as if it is not done properly the best case scenario is that you will not have enough bass, the worst case you will blow your amp....

i saw this sub and amp on ebay
i don't know if they are compatible.
Kicker TCVR102
10'' vented enclosure with compVR subwoofer
2 ohm final impedance
peak power 800 watts
RMS power 400 watts

I saw 2 amps but don't know which one is right.
both are kicker.
kicker zx300.1 monoblock and kicker zx400.1 monoblock
zx300.1 description
rms power 150w x 1 @4ohms
rms power 300w x 1 @2ohms
zx400.1 description
rms power 200w x 1 @4 ohms
rms power 400w x 1 @ 2 ohms

which one should i buy and how do i connect the amp to the sub above?
please help.
Thanks

going to run one sub or a pair?  Any reason you are picking kicker?  They are good but it is only a matter of moment before someone gets on here and says kicker sucks and recommends JL.  From there it is only a matter of moments before someone else chimes in how bad JL sucks and then we will be on down that now familiar road..........

What are you wanting out of the system?  What kind of music do you listen to?  What color is your car(red cars always have more bass then blue ones)?  How much do you want to spend?  What is in the car now?

The car is silver.  It has the mach 460 with a pioneer HU.  I already ordered a different pioneer HU because the one in the car now doesn't have mp3 capability.  The reason I'm going with kicker is because I saw a truck box style 10'' 400W sub for $89 and a 400W mono Kicker amp for $129.  I am on a budget.  I listen to everything except rap.  Trying to save to get a new set of wheel and tire.  I don't think i can afford JL.  I've heard JL is good, but can't afford it now.  I just want to add some bass and improve what I have now.

What is your budget.

I've heard that silver cars reflect the bass, so good luck making any......
