Hello folks. Well for the last 2 years from when i got my license i've been wanting to get my hands on a 65 mustang. Needless to say I finally wrangled me a stang. She's got a 289 and I got it appears to be in fair condition to me. All my dad and I had to do to make it street legal so far was put in a new break light switch, and some other minor wiring things. I've got my inspection and registration up to date so I should be able to start driving it friday. It has a few small rust spots where the paint is peeling off. I'll try to get some pictures of those tomorrow. I'm really excited about this mustang of mine.

Welcome to the Forum. Now give me back my car....it looks just like the one I had when I was your age. Same Rangoon red paint job and all. Its good looking, straight car, you'll have a ton of fun with it. Just watch out that all the girls dont mob you.

loks kinda like it was keyed and its only surface rust and the headlight door peobably wasnt sprayed with an acid etch primer before being painter so it didnt get a good tooth on that part but other than that looks pretty clean and welcome to the forums

Looks like some punk got pissed off and keyed that car.  Be sure you sand down the areas and spray with self etching primer until you can afford a new paint job.  You may even get by for awhile if you order some touch-up paint from Tower paint.  It will be the exact match. Just give them the code off the VIN tag on the door, and they will send you a spray can of that color for something like 25 bux.  http://www.towerpaint.com

Hell, I only got my first classic stang just a couple of years ago (had an 88 stang though), and I'm 44.

Young man, that's a very clean ride, good for you, I know you are on cloud nine.

Oh, and I really love your Pro-Car seats, I have their cousins, the Elites, both are great seats.

You also have my favorite color combo, red exterior and black interior.

What would I need to sand down those spots? The original color of my stang was Tropical Torquoise according to the tag, not a choice color in my opinion. I probably won't be able to get it repainted for a few months while i save up my money. I'd like to get it black.
