04 GT vs 01 Ws.6 = ticket

Hey me and my buddy where coming back from town sunday night and ended up at a light with no one around so we decided to race. I knew that i was going to get smoked anyway but it was late and we were bored. so i killed him off the line 1st and 2nd i had about 3-4 cars and when he hit 3rd it was like i was sitting still... lol figures EST. my 265 hp vs his 320. but anyway we got around 135-140 and he was about 2 cars in front of me and we let out. we pulled into a parking lot and about the time i got my brake up a freakin cop rolled in.. NO blue lights or anything. right behind us(blocking us in) :-( anyway we both got street racing tickets, and i was wondering if anyone has had this happen and what kind of fines and crap they got. You were not in CA i see. (Car would've been towed on the spot)
As for fines etc, depends on what is on the ticket. Just speeding, wreckless speeding, edangerment...what? If it's just speeding faster than prudent with no speed clocked, an attorney may get you off. Part of what constitues a speeding ticket is being able to have the actual speed clocked above the speed limit. Not just, "i had to go (this fast) to catch up to them"

definitely fight the ticket in court. did you admit to the cops that you two were racing? the cops don't have a great case against you, unless you admitted to it, or they got you on radar. i beat a drag racing ticket in court in michigan about 12 years ago by saying "yeah i was speeding, but not racing anyone" good luck.

dude ur lucky ,I got caught doing 110 on a highway and cop pulled me over cited me for 90 instead of 110. I was lucky to get off with just a ticket. He asked me "WTF was I doing" and made me do the walking test to see if i was intoxicated or on drugs l o l.

+1 on this I would try to get them to think you weren't racing. A speeding ticket is ok...a racing ticket can get you into some trouble.

Well like i said at about the SPEED LIMIT he passed me and got into my lane.... when they asked do you know why i am pulling u over we were like ???? no... and he was like street racing... and my friend was like thats my best friend.. other than than we said NOTHING... but he did ask ME if i was drinking or on anything.. i havnt slept much lately or taken out my contacts.. lol but he made me do the eye follow the finger thing.. maybe we can get out of it with just speeding.. we both have the same court date and everything.. thanks for all the info... btw the ticket says RACING ON HWY.

how old are u? my best friend got a racing ticket when he was 19, and he got his license suspended for 6 months,500 fine plus court costs and 10-day suspended jail time pending on good behavior when he got his license back...good luck man

lesson.....don't race on the street!
I used to race people too, but I gave that up Before I got a ticket. not really worth it imo. plus cops here at school are all over and unforgiving!

You'll need to get an attorney, that's what I did. The penalty will vary by statute, depending on where you live, and your attorney will know how to work the system to get you the best possible outcome.
