That was a 390 hp supercharged Cobra vs. a 305 hp Camaro, of course the Cobra was gonna win. The SS has 325 hp, not much of a difference from the Z as far as 1/4 times go. And from all the times I have been to the track I have never seen a GT run low 13's stock, like the LS1. The GT's hang with stock LT1's.

you have a cobra and you are racing a z28- there are gts that could hang with the Z's. next time get at a SS... still sweet video though
You of course realise there is little to no difference between an SS and a Z right?
Sadly, probably not. Everytime someone finds out I have a TransAm they're like, "is it a WS6?" Me, "no." "Is it at least a manual?" Me, "no." "That thing must be slow then." Me, "yes, yes it is."

That because people are jask-asses, they assume that because you have an automatic that your car is slow. Unlike most, GM actually makes a good auto transmission

Dude that Cobra jumped both times.. Also lets get it striaght the hp is very minumal between SS and Z28 LS1s. I will purchase a 98 LS1 Z28 first chance i get.

I agree about the auto 4th gen fbodies being not slow at all, but in stock form, the 4l60e is internally no different than a s-10 blazer or full size 1500 4l60e. The fbodies will have a different computer set up that will increase line pressures and give better shifts. Their weekness is the 3-4 clutch pack...and I can contest to this, just took one apart...
Yea, most of GM's stuff is universal. That's great though. I can buy a used 4L60e for $500. I have a programmer on mine and I used it to up the shift points, rev limiter, and the line pressure. Come to think of it, I think my tranny is slipping a little on the 3-4 shift. Just started after the gear install, so I'm not sure if that's it or not.
The guy that installed my gears took my car for a drive before giving it to me and the first thing he asked was what kind of shift kit I had. He said it felt great and shifted really firm.

well all i know is that the camaro has some exhaust and crap... but my car was basically stock... all i had was exhaust... and they say stock cobras run 13.1 so he really didn;t have that much of a disadvantage

If you run a 13.1 in an 03-04 Cobra, the you cant drive.
OK, guy, I see you're an LT1 guy and there are a few of us GM guys here. Don't talk **** about people can't drive. You obviously don't know that elevation plays a major factor in your ET. What's funny is I had raced many stock Cobras this year and they were only running .1- .2 faster than me on the 1/8th and you can read my Sig. And my Z is damn near stock...a filter and a muffler, that's it. Our elevation here is 250' ASL. Go to 800' feet and I will run .3-.4 slower.
As for the race. I see that the Cobra got the bump both times and the guy in the Camaro apparently didn't know what the 3 honks are for. But a good kill.....NOW, try me!!! OH. and the HP thing ya'll were talking about for the Camaros...325 / 305...that's rwhp rating for Z's and SS's with a M6.

if u can read my post it says "they say the 03 cobra runs 13.1 stock" they doesnt mean me...it means like motor trend magazine, and all them other crappy magazines.... i actually ran a 12.48@113 my first time ever at the track with just a cat back so... sorry buddy i can drive... i only have 5 modifications done to my car... less then $1500 spent and im running consistent 11.46-11.50@ 119, 120mph....
