i have some swirls and tiny scratches around the car and one place there is a rub where it must of rubbed on somthing in my garage. can a good detailer take these out with no problem? i am completely terrible at waxing and such so i would have no clue. how much do you think this would run me? thanks

As long as you can't feel the scratches when you rub your fingernail across them they will come out. They will have to be polished with an abrassive polish to level the paint. If the scratches and swirls aren't into the paint you can make the car look new again.

You are probably talking around $200-$250 to get them removed. Just make sure whoever you have do the buffing is reputable. I've seen a lot of people take there car to someone that didn't know what they were doing and burned their paint up.

Another option would be getting an orbital polisher like the Porter Cable and doing it yourself. It will save you some money and the PC is really worth the investment. Since it is an orbital you don't have to worry about burning up your paint. You can take the paint to a whole new level even as a beginner. PM me if you have any questions about the Porter Cable.

Just go to autozone, get some safecut or equal buffing conpound, go to home depot, get a 6' royobi orbital buffer.

Apply carefully and the ain will be new

why is a orbital p/cso safe? how does it work? your saying i cant ruin my paint with one?

An orbital actually spins in an oval type motion. A circular polisher spins in a circular motion generating a lot of heat and in the wrong hands will burn the paint.

It is almost impossible to burn up your paint with an orbital polisher.You can be a beginner and get awesome results. With the Porter Cable you will need a backing plate to accomodate the different levels of pads. I have a Porter Cable kit that has everything needed to get started. I also have kits that have the polishes with them too.

A "PC" is the way to go especially for someone just starting out.
With the right pads and products you can remove a lot of defects from your car.
Different cars respond differently to the same combination of pads and products.

Here is a Grand Prix I did sometime last year.
I ran a piece of tape from the drivers to the passengers side across the roof panel.
I polished the left side with a PCand an Orange Excel Detail pad using Poorboys SSR2.5.
I removed the tape and took the picture to show the difference.
There is a limit on what you can do and, a limit on what you should do when making corrections.
Different cars respond differently. This same combo on a Corvette would be futile and have fewer results.
