So, how do you go about proving a cop wrong?  I once was  surrounded by 6 cop cars, got pulled out of my car put in hand cuff's for tresspassing.  They claimed I was going to run (except I was surrounded).  My windows were down so I knew they could look in, all the kept asking was if I had drugs which I had nothing.  Eventually they let me off and were like, "If i were you I wouldn't tell your parents about what happened."

Also is it illegal to video tape/record police officers?  The cursing I've received  is unbelievable when you treat them with such respect.  I'm pretty sure cop's are here to help/aid you not treat you like a$$ and assume your carrying drugs.

Lol, my pops a lawyer and he told me that if someone comes at me (with wrong intentions), and I have the right to use self defence I can do so, till they are on the ground.  If they get up, i can knock em back down.  It's just the stomping there face in on the ground which doesn't fly.

It's all up to the jury tho, same thing with just about all law.

Don't know if there any actual Virginia cops around to answer this one, but this happened to me a year or so ago when I got my last speeding ticket. I was doing a hair under 80 in a 65 on the way to work one morning cause I was running late, and came up on a semi that was doing 50 in the fast lane, so I gunned it around the guy, got up to about 80 and slowed down again, next thing I know a statie flies up on me pulls me over I got the ticket, so on and so forth. My question is, this section of 264 in VA beach was under construction at the time, and the t-rails left NO shoulder.. so the guy HAD to have been moving. Radar only works from a stand still as far as I know because speed is relative motion to a fixed position, so how in the HELL did this guy clock me? He even stood up in court and said the radar had been calibrated. Will the radar guns you popo's use compensate for relative speed if the squad car is moving when the guy is clocked??   I didn't think this was possible given what I know of physics.. LOL

Laser has to be stationary but radar can be moving. He could have paced you too. You're a speeder. Pay the fine and STFU.

You can do what you have to do to stop their aggression towards you.  Once they stop their offensive, you gotsta stop too.

What do you mean proving them wrong?  You mean proving them wrong about the possibility of you running?  Believe me, it doesn't matter how many cops are surrounding someone, some people do still run.  Since you didn't run, and since they didn't find any dope, don't you think they kinda proved themselves wrong?

It's not illegal to video tape or record Police Officers, it has been made known in this area that there are a few people out to "Bait" us.  They roll around with recording equipment trying to get stopped, then pick an argument and hope to get a cop with a short temper so they can be the next you tube sensation.

Yes, they will.  Depending on the quality of the radar unit some can even detect the speed of vehicles in the same lane, traveling the same direction.  Most all of them can detect the speed of vehicles in the opposing direction.

You even said you were doing around 80, so why would you think the cop lied when you know you really were going that fast?  Do you think he just happened to guess right?

My dads a cop (chief of police actually) and although he does not pull people over, he says typically its 10+mph before anything happens.  Although he was pulled over once for doing 70 in a 65 haha.  That was funny.  I wasnt with him when it happened but when i heard the story, I got a good laugh out of it.  He just showed his badge and the guy was like "sorry officer you have a nice day".

Radars work by sending out a fixed wave length. When running stationary or moving opposite direction the wave length is shortened on its return to the counter (the box in the cop car that has the readout of speeds) the computer in the counter then calculates the difference in the wave length that it knows it sent out from the new length and is able to get the speed of the violators car. If the car is going away from the patrol car the wave length is lengthened and the correct calculations are done to get the speed. Our radar units do same direction, opposite direction moving and stationary and also fastest and slowest...

I got a ticket for reckless driving on march 17. The police report confirms this. However my ticket is dated the 18th. Does this help me at all?

What he said...of course not.

I was lucky enough to be in the prosecutor's office one day during a traffic night when someone brought in a ticket they had received.  They told the prosecutor that the Officer had written the wrong color of the vehicle on the ticket and asked if that was grounds to throw the ticket out.  The prosecutor was nearly speechless, but muttered a "Are you kidding me?"

I just wanted to know if these are standard policies for all DP's.

A few of my friends are officers here in Michigan and they told me they get subpoenas for court just as the person getting the ticket does when the offender want to fight the ticket.  Is that true for most states?  They also get paid 60$ extra just for showing up to court paid for by the PD.

Does your overtime max out for your dept at 300hr's like some PD's here.

Well for one brudda, I never thought the guy was lying, I was just wondering how he clocked me because I didn't know the radar guns could compensate for a moving vehicle, i.e. squad car. I'm no idiot, and I know I was speeding, so I didn't complain a bit when I got pulled over. It was more of "where the hell did he come from?" lol

And for the chode who said I need to STFU, I paid my fine and was courteous to the officer as I should've been. My uncle is an LT for BPD SWAT in Boston and has been with the PD for 25+ yrs so I know just a LITTLE better than to whine about tickets when I get caught.   So GiddyupandGo can tea-bag my left nut.
