I have a couple questions, sorry if any of u have answered them already.
I've heard that there r many ways to get out of a tinting ticket, one being a doctors note. True or False?
I bought my car from my bro when he went to college, now he got a ticket for tinted windows, before the court appearance he peeled them off took a pic. n the charges were dropped. Now I still get pulled over for tints, even though they were taken off more than a year ago, after they realize they were wrong the always check my car, and i have gotten 3 tickets for no front plate? If you accussed someone of something and were wrong do you personally try to get them for something else or do you just drop it?
I have a question 4 u. This may have been asked but this thing is way too long to read every page. How illegal are blacked out tail lights? Mine are kinda custom painted/clearcoated and they are probably a little too dark. They look good (lol) and I'm not necessarily talking about mine alone but, they make covers for these things and I see some BLACKED out taillights. I have tested mine in the day light and at night and are plenty visible. I haven't gotten any flack from the popo but my brother has for the same thing. What is your take on the situation?
I'm tired as hell so my memory is a little fuzzy, but I believe the law says your tail lights/brake lights must be visible from 500 feet back. <<This is law in Missouri>> I'd expect most other states would be very similar though.

THANKS!!!
The Doctor's prescription is true, but I don't know how hard it is to talk your doctor out of one. It would be worth a try though.
Are you 100% positive that each of those times you were stopped the Officers didn't already know that you didn't have a front plate? "I" don't normally walk around a vehicle unless I previously noticed something and just want to confirm.
Anyway, the few times "I" have stopped someone and it turned out to be a mistake, for whatever reason, I do drop it immediately.
Point in fact, just tonight I had assisted another car on a traffic stop. The first patrol car was parked so that I couldn't see the car he had stopped, and everything was good so I never even got out of my car. He cleared, the vehicle left and I didn't pay attention to the vehicle as it left. About 2 miles down the interstate I notice a crappy looking car with truck license plates. I check the plates, they come back to another vehicle, so I stop it. I walked up to a very confused looking driver that said "Weren't you just with the other Officer that just had me stopped back there?" LOL, oops. FWIW I shook my head, apologized and didn't hold him there any longer than I already had.

what is the preferred brand of donuts among cops? dunkin' donuts or krispy kreme?
HAHAHA
Dunkin donuts FTW. But I wont even go near a donut shop on duty. I have a few times, and people just stare at you. It gets pretty awkward sometimes.
I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes I go by the Krispy Kreme display at the convenience store wanting a donut. I never buy any as it seems that people are watching, wondering "Is that cop actually gonna get one?" Next thing i know, I could be on YouTube scarfing donuts in uniform.
I think the majority of us in my area have switched to bagels anyway.
Now which one of you guys is going to admit to having sex with a chick you pulled over like this dude did?
This story came out of a jurisdiction pretty close to mine and I know the cop and have seen him a few times. I am not surprised that this happened with him. He seemed like one of those bad apples. At least he gave the guilty plea (on an agreement).
I drive up and down I-95 a lot driving from DC to Delaware for school, and I see a lot of truck drivers driving like complete pricks. I saw that one of you mentioned that your less likely to ticket a truck driver because they can get in trouble for a ticket and possibly lose their job. I know their are plenty of undercover cops pulling people for driving aggresivly all the time, so I try to keep my aggresive driving on that road, down and my speeding somewhat restriced. This really isn't that important but are you really that unlikely to pull a truck driver over just because they are a truck?
Wow this thread is huge and awesome lol. I need a police officer from NYS to answer some questions for me so if there is one then speak up!
Just a heads up, I'm not aware of any New York coppers here. A few of us have some pretty decent "General" knowledge though, so we can give it a shot.

It might have even been me that said I'm less likely to ticket CDL (Commercial Driver's License) holders than the average driver...I'm not sure.
I wouldn't say that truck driver's are immune to traffic enforcement (By me) I have stopped, and ticketed several. I have given truck driver's DWI's when they were in their personal vehicles, and a DWI to a truck driver almost certainly kills their career regardless of what they are driving when caught.
But, I will admit that I may give them slightly more leeway than others, just like I give slightly more leeway to food delivery people, tow truck drivers, and pretty much anyone else that drives for a living. Please understand though, that by the word slightly I mean an extra 5 mph or so, for example. If they are doing anything blatantly dangerous, like the prick in the 18 wheeler that ran me onto the shoulder on my way to work the other day, they'll get a ticket just like anyone else.

yes, depending on the situation...either disorderly persons or assault
How can flipping the bird be assault? Isn't it freedom of speech?
Here, it can't really be twisted into assault in any situation that I'm aware of, unless you were to shove your finger into someone's face while flipping them off.
But it can be considered disorderly conduct. In the right situation, that wouldn't be protected by freedom of speech any more than walking through a busy retail store yelling "F**k" as loud as you can.

AHAHA I've done that before in protest to the no-cursing signs in lynnhaven mall in virginia beach...
Just being an ignorant ass.
Question: If radar detectors are illegal in VA, does that mean I have to remove mine completely, or just turn it off.

You forgot to mention Mustang drivers. You must give them a break if they are not over the top in their crime.

I'm not sure, but I do know that radar detectors are widely illegal inside of commercial vehicles, and for them it doesn't matter if the unit is on or off.

Bleeding:
How easy is it for you guys to detect radar? Can you guys just see it somewhere or how do you guys know?
Thanks
It's the radar detector's job to detect radar...cops have the radar, speeders have radar detectors.
Now if you are asking how easy it is for us to detect radar detectors, we don't have any sort of scanners or anything to tell us if someone has a radar detector or not. In Missouri, they are legal in everything but commercial vehicles anyway, so I don't care if someone has a detector or not.

I recently got a tint ticket. Officer labeled it as "not-correctable" and I have to go see a judge about it. OVER A FIX-IT TICKET? You gotta be kidding me. Is this merely a way for my local government to take more of my money? I don't see the point in seeing a judge over this
Is it illegal to have you headlights and taillight tinted or covered? The covers I have are both the same as in my sig. I do not know the tint of them though Because I know here in Texas you can not just run fogs only, that your parking lights have to be on as well with them, they can not be wired by themselves. I was just wondering, thanks.
yes, it's illegal to cover or tint them both. your parking lights DO need to be on at the same time as your fogs...and your fogs and high beems cannot be on at the same time.
Why is this? As long as you dim to oncoming traffic, what's the big deal? I have never heard of this one.
