Ok, I've got a question that I've been wondering about. What is the penalty for driving without cats (an O/R midpipe)? I know it probably varies state to state, but in general what is the penalty for such?

Thanks

in MD the police write you a ticket to get your car state inspected and it must pass, but thats just what ive noticed from friends who have had the problem, so they might do more or less.... but thats just md

is it illegal to have nitrous in your car on the street, or is it only illegal to use nitrous???
of course i guess they wouldn't know you had it unless you were using it.

in NJ there is a state statute for "noisy muffler"...it is a $54 ticket

you wouldn't necessarily get a ticket for no cats unless you failed state inspection (which is now done every two years).  if you fail inspection in NJ, you get a nice red sticker on your windshield (a target for cops).  "failure to inspect" or "failure to make repairs" are both $130 tickets.  so it's not really that bad.

Is it illegal to have you headlights and taillight tinted or covered?  The covers I have are both the same as in my sig.  I do not know the tint of them  though  Because I know here in Texas you can not just run fogs only, that your parking lights have to be on as well with them, they can not be wired by themselves.  I was just wondering, thanks.

yes, it's illegal to cover or tint them both.  your parking lights DO need to be on at the same time as your fogs...and your fogs and high beems cannot be on at the same time.

thank god...someone from NJ!!!
ok for your window tint...it's a $54 ticket...it's a good reason to pull you over, but i wouldn't pull you over just for that...if you were leaving a crack house with tinted windows...hmmm

I'm in Pa...I'm not sure if you know emissions here or not.  I heard there is an automatic pass for emissions if you drive less than 5000 miles a year - this way I could go cat-less?  I take the train everyday.
