any reason you are using the larger bellhousing? that probably hurts you some, i have hedmen headers on mine and the front primary tube on the passenger side goes UNDER the crossmember and back into the collecter, i really dont like that design and i shoulda got the hookers. that being said, knowing the two companies headers are two totally different designs i have to ask if you have looked into both of those. if so would either work with the small bellhousing?

i MAY have a bellhousing in storage - edge racing can custom make you a small converter, and i KNOW i have a small flexplate.

lemmie know where you sit with all this.

I am using the larger bell because I have a 3500 stall for that one.
I have the smaller bell and flex plate but they want 500.00 to build me a converter that will fit that flex plate and 24 spline trans input shaft . some of the hooker headers looks like 3 of the primary tubes go around the front on the passenger side. you would think that if you need 1 3/4 headers you are making enough power to need a scatter sheild or sfi bell , and I dont think they make any in that small size so I would think that they would have thought of that also when making the headers

just remember the V8's are a tight fit in these cars, kind of an afterthought which is why there are so many M II specific stuff needed to stuff a 302 into one. now your going with a 351w (which is not impossible obviously) but to try and get headers in there with the motor being a little wider and taller just makes it that much more tricky.

who qouted you 500 for that converter?

http://www.edgeracingconverters.com

a "street edge" can prolly be gotten in the stall your looking for - is there any reason you want to go so high with it? is this car gonna be a DD, weekend cruiser, or a track star?

btw heres a great pic of the hedmans for the 302...

also i found this:

I want at least 3500 power range for my cam is 3200-6700 you want your converter to stall around the lower end of power band and the converter from the site you posted is aprox 460.00 . its not a daily driver I drive 200 miles a day. but I will get in it and go 100 miles if i feel the need. I love loose converters 4000 stall would be ok with me. my last stang 87 had a 5000 in it and i drove it all over town and 35 miles one way to the street race spot.
