Ok we have had all the what the best coupe/fastback so I though what stang do you like the least, I fear for the mustang II owners as they aren't well loved. For me it has to be the fox bodies, the styling is awful it look like a european ford escort on steriods. It is so ugly and I might get flamed for this but I wouldn't have called it a mustang due to the angular lines a stang needs to be curvatious in my eyes. I admit I have never drived one so hopefully they drive well.

The 1974 , 4 cylinder only. I was going to buy a new mustang then until they said no V8.
A mustang without a V8 is like kissing your sister. Just aint gonna happen for me.

not counting the IIs (they get enough crap) I'd say 71-73 and 94-98

wow you guys sure tip toe around the II's...... they did SAVE the mustang name you know

71-73's followed by fox bodies and then the 99-04's. i really liked the 94's when they came out - they are just blah cars now but really they are a nice body style.

all that being said - i would rather drive the "worst" looking stang than almost any other car

*edit* i will say the II's with trunks are pretty ulgy though, especially the ghia's with the vinyl tops...... but the hackbacks with t-tops decked out in cobra / king cobra trim look awsome

As far as I'm concerned, they almost KILLED it.

Yeah, I don't like the II's, nothing but a Pinto with the name Mustang on it.

Ah...no.

Mustang II vs Hemi Cuda, 68 Dodge Charger, 67/69 Camaro/Firebird, 64 Chevelle, 55 Chevy, Stingray Corvette, and so on?

I mean, me likes most Mustangs over any of those cars, but a Mustang II?

Come on now.

Ok, I can respect that, and yes, Jaguar e-types are awesome.

But come on, with all seriousness...you'd pick the Mustang II over the cars I listed?

Ditto. I bought a new1975 V8, ps, pb, c-4, posi, custom interior...yellow with black Mach-I for my wife. Put a Crane fireball-1 cam with Cobra intake and a 600 cfm Holley vacumn carb. After we replaced the Firestone 500's with BFG/TA's we could beat the hell out of anything you could buy for under $10,000.00. You could slide the back at will and on the Blueridge Parkway I could park on the ass of just about any car that wasn't being driven by Dan Gurney or the equivilant. The car was a true sleeper.

I never liked the 71/73 cars. Just looked too big even though they were within an inch of every demension of the 71/73 Camaro.
To me a Mustang will always be a small, light (by comparision) car with a small block V-8. But that's just me.

I'm not too hot about the 71-73's either, but I would take one over any II or Fox body.  You notice I don't own any Mustangs from the 70's 80's, and 90's.  Those 30 years damn near ruined the American Automobile industry.  Chrysler damn near bit the dirt along with  Nash and Studebaker.  The Japanese were building reliable and cheap cars and the American public was buying and driving Japanese cars.

Ya'll go ahead and dis the Mustang II's but I know for a fact that they are a kick ass performance platform.  Rack & Pinion, solid build quality that is LIGHT YEARS ahead of our  earlier classics.

You are selling yourself short if you have never driven a nice one and just pass them over because it is the popular sentiment.  Kinda like everybody hated the BeeGees but most people could sing along with many of their songs.  Not all things from the 70's sucked total ass.

Make mine a 77 Mustang coupe 4 speed with a hot 302.  Yeah, that'll do.

Now, where'd I leave my platform shoes and bellbottom polyester slacks?  They're waiting for me at the club.

Oh yeah, I guess to answer the poll, probably a...hmm.  Wow, thats a tough one.  I'll get back to you guys on that one.

How much horsepower did the King Cobra advertise as having?
