LCC thank you!!!!! lets not talk about stock HP for the cobras or king cobras - yes they were low but so was everything else then. Galactusz: ANY day you wanna line em up and i promise you'll have a little respect =) for the record, they did not almost kill the mustang, they indeed saved it. look at all the other american muscle..... they all dissapeared cept the camaro/trans-ams. i remember hearing the car used in smokey and the bandit II needed nitrous to do a burn out but i dont see people crapping on those. fastback, +100 you nailed it. i have yet to see a ford built since then with comparable build quality. oh yeah, and i dont see any comparison between these: and this.... almost forgot - the fact that most people crap on the II's is going to make them worth that much more later, because junk yards crush them, and they are getting VERY hard to find parts for since no major companies make repo parts. keep on hatin, cause mines just gonna be worth more

Yea the II's are just a glorified Pinto. Not like the earleir cars that came from FALCONS.

i'm with you my77 MII with 4cyl MII with the most detuned 5.0 in the history of small block Fords MII as a platform...small, light, room for 347cubes...what could be wrong with that? I'd build a sleeper out of one, but I've never seen one in Australia. I think they lost their initial philosophy after 1968 and truly gone with the 71-73...too big/heavy and with all the engine restrictions coming in...71-73 for me.

i actually like the snake on the hood of the king cobra, but not in the color of the one i showed the picture of. ive got most everything to rebuild the 2.3 4 banger in my dads 75 mach 1 "delete package" 4 speed car - larger stainless valves along with machine porting and an erson cam and balanced - should be a peppy fun thing to drive. then theres always the turbo option like they used in the early 80s on a few different cars...... could easily be made to mop the floor with Z28's and 5.0's *edit* oh and i still dont know how they can be compared to pintos after seeing that pinto wagon with the bubble window. ..... we did have a mercury bobcat wagon with green/red plaid interior that was fun as hell to beat the crap out of though, just had to watch for those rear end impacts

Exactly my point 77. LCC was singing the praises of the King Cobra which sucked for performance just as did everything during that era.

That was the most sluggish Mustang I have ever driven, to include my 65 289. I traded that turd in for an E 150 fully decked out conversion van with tables, special high tech stereo, etc. Man, what a ride.

my dad had a E-150 that was originally a bright yellow safety-kleen van with a I-6 (i think a 240 or something) anyways they took it to elkhart indiana which was like the capitol for conversions and paid some guy in coke to do the van up right. the thing had like 3 different shades of metallic blue, tinted windows with blinds, tables, fold down couch, custome stereo.... the whole nine yards. i loved that van growing up and always wanted it when i turned 16 (which never happened). anyways when the 6 blew up for the second time he scored a freshly rebuilt 302 from a freshly wrecked classic stang and threw it in there...... omg that thing was fast as hell for a van and was louder than all get out with the hooker long tubes and glasspacks (and then later no glasspacks when they broke off.... thanks j.c. whitney). we used to hear him getting off the expressway like 2 miles away it was badass
