Rear window seam repair

Anyone have any idea for a product that will seal/waterproof the sewn seams that hold the rear windows in on the verts. Mine does not have a hole that I can see, but water is running in down the seam when it rains, putting water in the well where the top folds & also into the trunk. It looks like the old owner tried to use silicone, but that did not work. I have looked at sites on the web for waterproofing canvas, however I could find nothing that seem like it would work. I`m guessing that the water is coming in where the seam is sewn to the top.

Most of the time, when you get a leak at a seam, they are a pain to seal. Putting silicone on the canvas always shows and may not seal it. You may ave to take it to a shop that can redo the seam for you. That would be the only way to fix it right, but then it is costly. Do you have any pics?

Thanks for the reply. No pics of the leaking seam, the weather has been crappy here & its under a car cover[&:]

Sorry Man, at least you have her under a cover. I am fortunate enough to be able to garage mine 100% of the time, especially since I put a new top on her last year. I tried to fix some leaks before I put the new top on with black silicone, but I was never able to get anything to stick well enough to stop a leak.

+1 on costly repair, The glass is bonded to the fabric. You will never get a perfect seal yourself. I bought some windshield epoxy from Red Rooster and it worked pretty good. The real answer is one you really don't want to hear.........get a new rear panel and glass...... Sorry!

Thanks. Its not the glass area that is leaking. It seems to be where the fabric panel that holds the glass to the top is leaking where it is sewn to the top on the passenger side
