zoomo6 -> rollover protection (2/19/2007 7:54:06 PM)

I JUST BOUGHT MY 06 SC281 VERT. I WAS WONDERING IS THERE ANY KIND OF ROLL OVER PROTECTION?

keep the rubber on the ground [:)] The only thing I know of is installing a 4 point roll bar.

Before I bought my convertible sc, I found some data showing how a rollover in a Mustang was very unlikely.  A few minutes on Google should uncover such info.  That's the good news.

I also recall hearing that the Mustang's A-pillars are reinforced to withstand the car's weight in a rollover.  Of course, the bad news is that sometimes, the A-pillars just won't hold up:

After I saw the above thread, I looked for aftermarket rollbars and found nothing (short of roll cages more suited for track use).

What you see on most verts with the "Speedster" package is a decorative light bar, which is nearly always referred to as a "roll bar".  Make no mistake, those things are purely decorative and have no rollover protection value [;)]

Unfortunately thats the price we pay for owning a vert.  Unless of course you want to fab up a 4 point cage like casey mentioned.

wow....i never knew that! so doesn't that mean that you're limited at most quarter mile tracks because you don't have the 4 point roll bar?

Definitely - I don't know much about drag racing, but I'm sure there are speed/time limitations that dictate when you need a cage in a 'vert.

If you run 11.49 and below you need a *six* point roll cage.

good to know! i don't think i'll ever get to that stage with the stock internals on a 2002!

Is that for any car or verts?
